They had free health care before NATO took out the health-care facilities, now they will get a few tents and a few bottles of out-dated hydrogen peroxide, quite the trade-off, ... not.

given the insanity of destructive warring...... the megabucks Clinton promises might go to restoring what they had before. One step forward, two backwards.

but you are right........

This isn't 1950, $11M won't replace anything of any value, take a look at6 the reconstruction trends in Afghanistan and Iraq, how much has been spent and what actual facilities are in existence. It's empty words for the press to print.

"A large portion of that funding has gone to a handful of State Department officials deployed to look for the looted weapons. Officials say that there are 14 officials on the ground, and that this program alone has cost $40 million. It is unclear if they found any of the weapons."

Re: Libya- End Game in sight???

Surely makes one wonder what the war planners........."plan" when they invade or "intervene militarily" Any idiot can start a war. But dealing with the destruction and bringing it to a closure is another story. -IMHO..and that does not cover the massive costs involved.

Well the main event is over and now the reconstruction begins in that troubled country.
I could prove difficult, as there are nothing more than a list of tribes with different ideas
as to how the country should be run. If they begin to fight among themselves who does
NATO bomb then? I am glad the eliminated Gaddafi at least they have a chance now.
Who takes over is anyone's guess though and we could be in for a very nasty surprise.

when that many sub groups exist and begin to vie for identity and leadership ........ the odds of a "nasty surprise" are rather high.

You can't just go in , slaughter the leadership, destroy the infra structure , and create shambles and expect the "reconstruction" to go smoothly. Too bad the powers that make these decisions to "intervene" have learned not a clue from their Iraq and Afghanistan messes. 10 yrs and going strong.

Mind you........the "powers that be "..... have no intention of completely leaving the region...no matter how they spin their political speak. Suspect that Libya is their next conquest and will be occupied for an "indefinate " period of time. It will NOT even be interesting to see what they use as excuses.

Lots of untapped resources there ...... and greed being what it is ... Plus those that control the resources ...control the worlds population Critical not to be naive about their "reasons" for interventions.... as what they say and what they mean and intend are seldom the same.

The New Libya: Assassination, Ruination, Broken Promises and Body Snatching..

"read it and weep"

The New Libya: Assassination, Ruination, Broken Promises and Body Snatching...

Well, the "liberators" created this mess. What are they prepared to do to repair it?? Seems they really don't care what state the country is in........as long as the "leadership" is USG friendly ergo cowtowing to the USG.

Do folks ever stop to THINK what these military interventions do to PEOPLE, ?? Their environment and their lives in general??\

Or are they so high on themselves and their "liberation" nonsense that they ignore the really important issues and the PEOPLE themselves.

OOOPS. these "liberators" have not yet concluded business in Iraq,, Afghanistan (note the most recent violence and loss of life) and a few other places ......

Do these "liberators " plan to go from country to country leaving it in disarray as the pattern has been over the past decade (well, more actually....can't forget Viet Nam )

ICC to Probe NATO War Crimes in Libya War
Court to Consider 'Series of Complaints' Against NATO, NTC

by Jason Ditz, November 03, 2011

NATO’s careful avoidance of any investigations of the many civilians they killed over several months of bombing western Libyan cities may have kept the situation quiet for awhile, but now it looks like the story is coming out without them.

Bomb, Build, Benefit: UK Joins Gold Rush to Patch Up War-torn Libya

By RT

NATO may have ended its operations in Libya, but the Western presence is far from over - with big companies replacing the warplanes. The countries that bombed the oil-rich country are now getting lucrative contracts to rebuild it. RT's Laura Smith adds up the profits of war.
