And the ONLY reason they stopped allowing it was because of greed for power. The problem was the manses. For many years churches would have a property attached or very nearby with a house for the clergy and his family. However, some European countries had muddy rules when it came to property ownership. That loss of land meant a loss of wealth and power for the Vatican. So, they banned priests from marrying.

This is not my first rodeo on this issue. I'm quite used to being accused of being a homosexual as an insult by supposed defendants of homosexual rights. My stock answer is that if I was homosexual, I would be thinking that with 'friends' like these who needs enemies. The homosexual lobby is racked with deceit and hypocristy.

The fact is homosexuality is a willful artifice. There are no natural, genetically defined homosexuals. There are only those who commit sodomy as acts of gratification or rebellion. The origin of the phenomenon is obscure although certain environmental circumstances and a weak character could contribute.

I've have stated several times here that I would not support recriminalizing homosexuality. But I would not criminalize adultery, fornication, masturbation or any private acts between consenting adults. Even though all of these will have profoundly adverse and potentially tragic effects on individuals, families and society.

It's you who does not understand the most critical problems in the priesthood of the Latin Church. It is homosexuality. There are plenty of other outrages and abuses, including pedophilia and abusive use of an office for heterosexual gratification, but these likely are proportionally small representations in comparison to the society at large. Not so with homosexuality. It is the elephant in the room of the Catholic Church and by far and away its most corrosive element.

Since the beginning of Judeo-Christian texts, stretching far back from the birth of Christ, homosexuality has always been portrayed as a most societally destabilizing and disintegrating force. Such it remains today.
