Joan of Arc... and the personal attacks continue.

EagleSmack, calling Palin Joan of Arc is personal attack? You surprise me. And how is it a personal attack, I thought it is a compliment.

Oh sure... like her ongoing lie about what she knew about water boarding... all personal.

Indeed. And what does waterboarding have to do with calling Pelosi a bitch, a hag and a prostitute?

“There’s no way you can dress up that record, even with a lot of lipstick,”

And just how is that a personal attack on Joan of Arc? To say that she wears lipstick is personal attack?

"You can put lipstick on a pig,"

Obama did explain that, he clarified that he was not referring to Palin when he referred to the pig. By contrast, Republicans specifically called Pelosi a bitch, a hag and a prostitute.

one day after drawing laughs at a campaign stop by calling her a “moose shooter.”

Well, doesn’t she shoot moose? How is moose shooter an insult? Is that in the same league as calling Pelosi a bitch, a hag and a prostitute?

"primary qualification seems to be that she hasn't had an abortion."

And the problem here is? Wasn’t’ she stating a fact, that Joan of Arc had never had an abortion? Is that in the same league as calling Pelosi a bitch, a hag and a prostitute?

You are grasping at straws. This really reinforces my point, criticism of Joan of Arc were policy criticisms, as far as I am aware, nobody called her a bitch, a hag or a prostitute.

But the attacks on Pelosi are very much personal attacks.

Well if it any indication on how America feels about congress...you are wrong.

Oh, so are you ready to predict here, that in 2010, Republicans will win the control of Senate and House and that in 2012 Republicans will win the presidency? Yukon Jack has already confidently made such a prediction. Want to join him? I will hold you to it.

Coming from you it is not a compliment. It is patronizing...per usual.

Oh sure... like her ongoing lie about what she knew about water boarding... all personal.
Indeed. And what does waterboarding have to do with calling Pelosi a bitch, a hag and a prostitute?

Can you point out to where she was called this?

“There’s no way you can dress up that record, even with a lot of lipstick,”
And just how is that a personal attack on Joan of Arc? To say that she wears lipstick is personal attack?

So silly... you know where the comment led to... right below.

"You can put lipstick on a pig,"
Obama did explain that, he clarified that he was not referring to Palin when he referred to the pig. By contrast, Republicans specifically called Pelosi a bitch, a hag and a prostitute.

SUUUUURE. I am sure you believe that as you are a Liberal Democrat and believe everything Obama says. It was a sexist comment and a personal attack by Obama.

one day after drawing laughs at a campaign stop by calling her a “moose shooter.”
Well, doesn’t she shoot moose? How is moose shooter an insult? Is that in the same league as calling Pelosi a bitch, a hag and a prostitute?

It was a personal attack and that is how another Liberal Democrat like yourself delivered it. It was mocking.

"primary qualification seems to be that she hasn't had an abortion."
And the problem here is? Wasn’t’ she stating a fact, that Joan of Arc had never had an abortion? Is that in the same league as calling Pelosi a bitch, a hag and a prostitute?

Another personal and mocking attack.

And you continue to mock her by calling her that. Hypocrit.

Well if it any indication on how America feels about congress...you are wrong.

EagleSmack, perhaps. But you have to agree that it is not an insult. Joan of Arc is really a jab at her slavish, adulating followers. Her followers have the same zeal, the same blind belief as the followers of Joan of Arc had. Hence the nickname.

Can you point out to where she was called this?

Indeed. In the very opening post of this thread, ironsides has given a link. There you will find out who called her a bitch and who called her a hag (both talk radio hosts, the backbone of the Republican Party).

And she was called a prostitute (along with Hillary Clinton) on this very forum, by Yukon Jack.

SUUUUURE. I am sure you believe that as you are a Liberal Democrat and believe everything Obama says. It was a sexist comment and a personal attack by Obama.

That is your personal opinion EagleSmack, and you are entitled to it. But the point is, Obama did say that he was not referring to Palin when he talked of a pig. When Republicans talked of a bitch and a hag, they didn’t deny that they were referring to Pelosi.

What this means is that Obama was not referring to Palin, but his political opponents claimed that he was. So there is dispute about it. But Republicans did refer to Pelosi as bitch and hag, there is no dispute about that.

It was a personal attack and that is how another Liberal Democrat like yourself delivered it. It was mocking.

Mocking is not the same as personal attack, EagelSmack, mocking is a well accepted tool in any debate. She does hunt moose, and calling her moose hunter is not name calling. Nowhere near calling her a bitch or a hag.

Another personal and mocking attack.

Nothing of the sort, it was attack on her anti-abortion policy (she wants to ban all abortions no exceptions).

Once again putting words in people's mouths.

I will make no prediction.

And you are wise not to, I never make predictions either. Things can change quickly in politics, nobody can really say how the 2010 will elections turn out.

TALK RADIO! You got this from TALK RADIO! Man are you stretching this...

Try listening to Air America and listen how they talk about Republicans and conservatives. That is if you can find the station as they are off the market for obvious reasons.

And she was called a prostitute (along with Hillary Clinton) on this very forum, by Yukon Jack.

Palin was ripped here by more than one person I assure you.

LOL. Palin was EXACTLY who he was referring to and he had to answer for it.

What this means is that Obama was not referring to Palin, but his political opponents claimed that he was. So there is dispute about it. But Republicans did refer to Pelosi as bitch and hag, there is no dispute about that.

He sure was...that is why he was on the ropes about it. You love him too much to think otherwise.

Mocking is the same...it is personal.

Another personal and mocking attack.

Nyet... personal attack...very clear. Only Democrat Liberals say otherwise.

Sorry, EagelSmack, but referring to somebody as Joan of Arc, a Catholic saint, is insult only in your Alice in Wonderland logic. Bitch, hag, prostitute, certainly these are insulting terms. But Joan of Arc? Get real. You evidently don’t understand the difference between insult and satire, mockery.

And patronizing is not the same as insult, look up in your dictionary.

And anyway as I said, Joan of Arc makes fun of her slavish, adulating supporters, not of Palin.

TALK RADIO! You got this from TALK RADIO! Man are you stretching this...

Talk radio is the backbone of Republican Party (some think that Limbaugh is the de facto leader of the party).

Try listening to Air America and listen how they talk about Republicans and conservatives. That is if you can find the station as they are off the market for obvious reasons.

Exactly, EagleSmack, left wing talk radio is almost non existent. So what they say doesn’t matter.

Palin was ripped here by more than one person I assure you.

Sure, I myself ripped Palin (in the Canada.com forum). But show me where anybody called her a bitch, a hag or a prostitute. Never happened (unless perhaps in some obscure left wing blog). The attacks were on her policies, not on her as a woman.

LOL. Palin was EXACTLY who he was referring to and he had to answer for it….. He sure was...that is why he was on the ropes about it.

Now, that is a matter of opinion, isn’t it. And he had to answer for it, he was on the ropes, in what way? He said that he was not referring to Palin and the explanation was accepted, the campaign moved on (except maybe on extreme right wing blogs).

Oh brother... you are really out there. Mocking is an accepted tool in any debate? Geez.

Mocking is the same...it is personal.

Of course it is (an accepted tool), it is used commonly by both the left and the right. Thus when I refer to Harper as the Messiah, or Palin as Joan of Arc, that is mockery, satire, not an insult.

Nyet... personal attack...very clear. Only Democrat Liberals say otherwise.

Sorry EagleSmack, but attacking somebody’s position on abortion is not a personal attack.

First of all, nobody called Fancy Piglosi a prostitute.

She may be, and in fact IS, a political *****, there is a difference. Hookers and prostitutes are honest. Which is the furthest thing from and totally alien to Piglosi's mind or her general dispodition.

Second of all, calling Sarah Palin Joan of Arc is the stillborn idea at humour of a demented , sick and childish mind. Similar to his idiotic insistance of referring to our duly elected Prime Minister, in a derogativec way,as the Messiah. If he called Hussain Obama, the terrorist sympathizer punk, Idi Amin, he would at least show some decent and honest balance.

Thirdly, it is a total waste of time to try and reason with SirJosephPorter. He lies, he attributes words that he spoke (wrote) which - in retrospect he realized that they were foolish - to others.

You did, Yukon, when you claimed that Pelosi and Clinton have experience on the streets. As I said, how naive do you think I am? What kind of experience (on the streets) were you referring to?

Anything wrong with that? I think Messiah describes his followers very accurately, it describes their childlike devotion, Godlike faith in Harper, his followers regard him almost as a Messiah.

Oh great genius of prose-poison and semantics, did the term "street-wise" ever pass through your narrow mind?

...and DO, at least, make a feeble attempt at spelling names correctly. That is the cheapest form of insult of all.

This women represents a bankrupt state that she helped bankrupt, and now we should trust her with the country.

Ironsides, Pelosi had nothing to do with the state California is in today, I don’t think she ever held a position of high authority in California (like Governor or Lt. Governor). The mess in California has to be laid at the door of the Republican governor, not at the feet of the Democratic Speaker of the House in Washington.

To claim that a Washington politician is responsible for the mess in California is dishonest in the extreme. Look at your governor first before you throw stones at others. Governor Arnie gets the lion’s share of the blame (unless you think that he is only the puppet and Pelosi is the puppet master). But of course, a Republican cannot do anything wrong, perish the thought. So your perverse train of logic says that Republican governor of California is blameless, but the Speaker of the House (who has absolutely no say in running California) is the one to blame.

As to trusting her to running the country (which is again nonsense, it is Obama who is running the country), she enjoys the support and confidence of Democrats in the House, The only way to get rid of Pelosi is for the Republicans to win the control of the House in 2010 (which is certainly possible, but I wouldn’t’ count on it).

You mean that a pretty much bankrupt state like California could afford this high speed train they are proposing with the backing of Pelosi and Feinstein. This is just one example of her poor budget ethics. Wonder if they run their own households like this? The United States does not need her brand of politics now or ever.

Perhaps, EagelSmack. However, these words (insult, patronizing, satire etc.) have dictionary meanings and they are different from each other. So if somebody wants to equate insult with satire, that is his right, I suppose, but that is not backed by the dictionary.

If someone is being patronized they should no way feel insulted by it?

Hey, he (or she) can feel anyway he wants, nobody is stopping him. But patronized and insult are two totally different things, according to the dictionary meaning.

Well, maybe it doesn’t’ attack her prolife stance, but it does attack the prolife stance of her supporters. Her supporters tend of be one issue candidates, and that issue is abortion. So she had not had an abortion was enough of qualifications for the Republican base (that and her pro life stance).

So the fact that she had never had an abortion established her bona fide as someone of true faith, someone strongly pro life. The fact that she had poor knowledge of issues, that she gave ridiculous and nutty answers to Katie Couric, none of this mattered with the base, they were happy as long as she was prolife.

Really, Yukon? Then pray tell what was the meaning of this wise crack by you?

A woman must be a street fighter?? HUH?? The two you mention probably have street experience but it is definitely NOT fighting.

Post #32. Exactly what street experience were you referring to, if not prostitution? Was it drugs? Crime? Begging? What?
