Bravo Sierra!

After Tokyo was razed to the ground killing 500,000 the ball was already rolling and gaining speed for unconditional surrender.

Justifying the testing on civilian targets was/is ludicrous.

The outcome of those tests are the reason why there hasn't been any strategic use in the past 68 years.

Bravo Sierra is right!!

No one has ever estimated the losses in Tokyo at 500,000 dead. The firestorm raid left 124,000 casualties dead and wounded. And yes, the Emperor's tour of the devastated city turned him towards peace.............but he was essentially powerless, the same as all other civilian movements. That is the thing the people that say "Japan was willing to negotiate peace" keep missing. Japan was a military dictatorship, and the military had no intention of seeking peace............civilian efforts were absolutely irrelevant.

The bombs were not "testing on civilian targets", they were a strategic necessity.
