if the word actor stops you from seeing this man, and who he is, and how badly we 'all' need people like
him to 'step up', like he does, then give your head a shake.
Stepping up? So jet setting around in his private jet is "stepping up"? Renting out the 5th largest luxury yacht in the world so he can sail around Brazil during the previous World Cup is "stepping up"? Wow, there's another term whose meaning has become seriously downgraded.

It's kinda sad that you guys will be shackled to a life a hopeless bickering.

But I'm sure the PCs will bail you out, now that they also support carbon reductions lol

Maybe he was almost killed by one of these?

Or one of these?

Or one of these?

Nahhhh, it was probably one of these?

Maybe, it was just your common, garden variety Loudmouth Schnook that scared wee Leonard.

I am not sure what anybody cares about what some actor thinks. He is just an actor.

Libtards hang on their every word.

Has this so called green warrior done anything to reduce his carbon footprint ?
I imagine not , he is probably like you , lecturing everyone well doing nothing .

Typical do as I say not as I do .

They never do anything to reduce their carbon footprint... and guys like Flossy worship celebrities like Leonardo.

I would definitely vote for Leo over Trump.

Leonardo DiCaprio attacks Republican presidential candidates on climate change

Leonardo DiCaprio used a Japanese press conference for the Oscar-winning western The Revenant to launch a thinly veiled attack on Donald Trump and other Republican candidates for the US presidency who deny climate change, reports AFP.

The actor and environmentalist, in Tokyo to promote the local release of Alejandro G Iñárritu’s 19th century frontier epic, said the next leader of the world’s most powerful nation should not be someone who refused to listen to reason.

“We should not have a candidate who doesn’t believe in modern science to be leading our country,” he said. “Climate change is one of the most concerning issues facing all humanity and the United States needs to do its part.”

and he is right, the republicans don't give a flying buffalo chip about climate and our environment,
a very important issue in the world right now, and forever in the future, we all need people out
there who want to care for our earth and our future generations of life on earth.

Aside from babbling catch phrases what has he done to reduce his own carbon footprint? He may talk the talk but I doubt he walks the walk.

this is a democracy, he has worked hard for his wealth, he doesn't need to 'step up' at all, but he
'is'. we shouldn't be jealous of what he has, we should be happy that he, with all of his wealth,
is still a good human being, and has his priorities in the right place.

what he does for fun and enjoyment he has legally earned, what do you want him to do, sit on the
side of the street and become, like so many others, totally inactive and worthless.

give him a break. I don't have that type of financial wealth at all, but I don't even think about it
when I listen to him use appeasrances over the world to speak up on this issue, that is so
important to him, he can reach people, so all the more power to him to do it, he will receive many
responses from those who will jump on board and help him and also contribute to this important cause
in the world.

to trash good people because they are wealthy is totally missing the point, but definitely shows what
your priorities are.

research into all of the efforts he has made toward this 'global warming' issue, he is dedicated and
serious.

how about bill gates and his wife, amazing couple, doing amazing good things in this world.

So, he has earned the right to use all the fossil fuels he wants because he can afford to and has worked hard to earn that right.

Those of us in Alberta, though, have not earned that same right. We are not allowed to earn our money through the use of fossil fuels.

I'm curious, if we stop pulling oil out of the ground, what's going to fuel those private jets and yachts that he galavant's all over the world in?

Is his private jet powered by wind and solar?

One, we don't have food stamps.

two, We are Canadian, not american. We don't sit on our "sorry azzes", we find something else and make a living and support our families.

You're projecting, again.

Love this one. Whom does Gore purchase his Carbon Offsets from?
Who owns the company that provides the credits that Gore uses.

Heck he doesn't even purchase them... he is a stake holder.

Maybe you don't sit on your azz but you cannot tell me every Canadian works to support his or her family.

wow, you are really angry. the amount of
people flying private or not, jets around the world is astronomical. you probably have a good argument,
but I'm not the one to meet you head on, wouldn't know where to start. we can't assume all the things
he is doing, but we really don't know. its so easy to point fingers. its easy to pick out things that we think he is doing that 'we' don't like, but all I've done here is point out something, which I think
is extremely important to 'all' of us, and make mention about it, that I know he is doing, so that's
about it for me.
when people do good, good for them, I like to notice it.

before alberta was pulling oil out of the ground, private and public jets were flying all round the
world, and after alberta finishes doing what they do, that will continue.

I'm sure you work hard, all of my family works/worked hard all their lives, and decaprio has worked
hard since he was a kid. I'm sure not going to tell him how to live his life, and he won't, mine.
someone here said that he is just an actor, I'm not sure what a person is thinking when they say
that, decaprio works at his craft, he is at the top of the game, it isn't easy, I don't know what
his family was like when he was a kid, wealthy or not, it doesn't matter, he is a worker, not a
greedy taker, and if one wants to say that he is a taker because of his life style, then we can all
put our hands up in one way or or another, because we can, within our pay grade, make free choices of what
we want to do with our money, its a free country, and we are all guilty of enjoying our lives here
in this country.

I assume decaprio spends a lot of his time working within the environmental issue he is concerned
about, so good for him, so many wealthy people, or not, couldn't care less about the environment.
and I'm sure the organizations he is connected with receive a good amount of money from him to
further the cause.

Are you freakin' kidding me? So he's allowed to enjoy the fruits of his labours because he's "wealthy" but the rest of us are evil pricks for enjoying the fruits of our labours? You know what? When I flew, I flew to help others, not go jet-setting around pretending I'm a f*cking big shot.
I'm not trashing him because he's wealthy. I'm trashing him because he's just another hypocritical douchebag. I'm trashing him because he's busy castigating everyone else for enjoying the fruits of their labours with nonsense about how we can prevent a natural event from occurring.

As for the super yacht he rented for the World Cup, the hypocritical irony is pathetic. It’s difficult to get an exact gas mileage estimate for such a watercraft, but most estimates place it an appalling low 1 mile per gallon (mpg). Given it's size and the two 8000hp engines it has, we're talking about a fuel consumption of tens of gallons PER HOUR! (my calculations)
At least 20 of Leo’s friends are joining him aboard this super-inefficient yacht in Rio de Janeiro to celebrate the World Cup in style. Better yet, he is “borrowing” the yacht from Emirati Sheik Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose family’s $150 billion fortune is derived almost wholly from oil.

Meanwhile, Leo and the NRDC have no qualms about using their big influence to force the rest of us to improve our vehicle’s gas mileage. They have consistently pushed for a mandatory minimum of 54.5 mpg, which most experts say will significantly increase vehicle prices.

Leo’s yacht use fits with his other examples environmental hypocrisy. He recently bragged that he was going to “fly around the world doing good for the environment,” apparently unaware that the emissions from a single transatlantic flight can equal those of a year’s worth of driving. He also seems to be building a property empire, purchasing three more homes this spring, despite the fact that buildings contribute around 40 percent of global emissions. Clearly, the NRDC is willing to look the other way on these transgressions so long as it can continue pointing to pictures of him getting out of his electric car.

Even serious greenies aren't impressed with the goof.
