I've being playing guitar longer than you've been alive. Blues is improvised when it's true form. No headbanger has ever improvised anything. It's all rip off. Only the talentless play Heavy Metal.

Maybe so, but you're also from the land that gave us Nickelback, Barenaked Ladies, and Bryan Adams, so I think a certain amount of caution on our part is warranted.

I don't normally agree with things you say, but this is one of the few exceptions.

Let me tell you something about the true musuicans I know--they don't write off entire genres of music.

The term headbanger wasn't even around in Led Zeppelin's days and only someone with not much music sensibility at all would refer to Going to California, or Hot Dog, or The Rain Song as heavy metal.

Heavy Metal is Mickey Mouse crap that any teenager can play. No head banger wasn't around but it doesn't change anything. It's simplistic, regurgitated fluff.
Yes there are examples of originality but they are far and few in between.

Did Santana copy anyone? Frank Zappa? Zappa even ridicules the hacks in Joe's Garage.

And even more brilliantly in the "Shut Up and Play Your Guitar" trilogy.

Best of my knowledge, she didn't play a lot of guitar.

Oh, we're talking guitar players. Best ever from Canada would be Jeff Healy, in my opinion. Alex Lifeson, Colin James, Rik Emmet should be on the list. Maybe Neil Young too, not so much for his chops, but for some classic riffs.

You just don't know what you're talking about, sorry.

Actually I do. Although I'm on the road right now, and the rental car was tuned to CBC2, and I'm quite liking it. I must be getting old. I'm fine with you insulting bands I like. To each their own. But by any objective standard, Led Zeppelin's music was not simplistic. Nor was the music of other similar bands at the time, like Queen, Yes, Genesis, Floyd.

Personally, I never liked Yes. Fantastic musicianship, no doubt about it. Just never did it for me. Too much jazz influence for my tastes. Same with Rush--love Rush until Geddy starts singing.

Queen, great example May was inspired by Cliff Richard who was inspired by American blues guitarists.

I agree about yes. Genesis, even more blues, Floyd more blues and old school country.

It all goes back to blues.

John Lennon once claimed that "before Cliff and the Shadows, there had been nothing worth listening to in British music."[

I think Jimi Hendrix deserved an honourable mention somewhere.. after all, everyone of those listed owes a debt to Jimi's revolutionary re-invention of the electric guitar's place in rock and roll. Nobody gave the 'axe' such an eloquent voice as Hendrix.

Most of Led Zeppelins music are rips from other musicians. They should be known as a great cover band but nothing more.

I see no problem in musical artists covering songs and improving them.

So you like cover bands like Led Zeppelin then. Cool!
