Well we can agree that he has great respect for dictators- Like Castro/ Following in dada's footsteps.

Oh yes, he dislikes the term "barbaric" for describing honor killings.

How would you describe them?

Honour killings term angers Trudeau | Canada | News | Toronto Sun

OTTAWA - Liberal MP Justin Trudeau said the government should not call honour killings "barbaric" in a study guide for would-be Canadian citizens.

On Monday, the federal government updated its Discover Canada guide, a pamphlet given to new immigrants to help explain life in Canada and prepare them for the citizenship test.

Among other things, it tells new Canadians that gay marriage is OK and forced marriages are not.

But the guide also says: "Canada's openness and generosity do not extend to barbaric cultural practices that tolerate spousal abuse, 'honour killings,' female genital mutilation, forced marriage or other gender-based violence."

"Those guilty of these crimes are severely punished under Canada's criminal laws," it reads.

Trudeau blasted the Conservatives for using the term "barbaric," even though it's been in the guide since 2009. Forced marriages are the only new item on the list.

"There's nothing that the word 'barbaric' achieves that the words 'absolutely unacceptable' would not have achieved," Trudeau, the Liberal immigration critic, said.

I don't see the issue. Trudeau wants "absolutely unacceptable." Harper wants "barbaric." What's the dif? You are basing your vote on this?

I guess it's that old saying: The best argument agianst democracy is a 5-minute coversation with your average voter.

Unacceptable, so are bad table manners.
Unacceptable, stealing.
Unacceptable does not cover it. Read it however you wish.
PS- I do not like Harper.

(Les pictures a round, sweaty Goober and gulps 3 fingers of Appleton Estate). A glance at wifey scrubbed the image out of mind.

I am thin on the top of my head, rounder in the middle of my body.
Appleton, good taste.

What "differentiates" Justin Trudeau from his dad, is that his dad is dead.

On the other point, I also like to see a respectable debate as well as banter.

Is there something "disrespectable" about "Junior"!

I think no matter what the poll numbers the Tories are in trouble.
They can't get more than 38% and they continue to dip each
time. They needed to be 45% or more by this time and that is
not going to happen. They have a chance for a minority and
that depends on where the strength lies. Even so if there is an
election with a minority the GG can ask the two parties with a
majority if they can form a government if the Tories are in a
minority. I would hope they do we have to get Harper out of
there before they destroy the social legislation that remains
and the whole system will have to be rebuilt.

GG goes to the party with the most seats first. No choices in the matter. If the GG did otherwise that would set a precedent. And they do not like that.

You are right Goober that though unclear was partly my point.
the GG can if its determined they can't form a government or
the opposition forms a coalition, and govern rather than just
call an election. These two at present won't form a coalition
but they might to prevent further deterioration of our country
The current government is so far off track they are in the
wilderness.

Nah, the people who participate in polls don't necessarily coincide with the ones who go out and vote. Canada's population is aging and seniors don't appreciate being taxed to death, so as long as Harper continues with his agenda of income splitting for pensioners, he'll retain his majority. Seniors are also the most intensive demographic at the polls.

Yeah, precedents like that are not usually welcomed.
I wonder about the efficacy of polls. Seems to me that there are fewer people voting than what answer the poll questions. And some, like me n wifey, lie to pollsters.
Yeah, what JLM said.
