well I'm just a sawdust maker but for what it's worth, I think we all have the biological make up to have cancer cells grow. Maybe it just depends on how strong our immune system is. For some reason I'm thinking of native Americans not being able to fight off viruses brought over by the Europeans. Maybe there's a connection.
Actually cancer cells are normal cells that do not die or do not quit reproducing. The immune system is not a defense against that. It is a defense against foreign cells like flu virii or staphylococcus bacteria or varicella zoster virii.

vegetarianism ain't all bad. I like a good salad now and then. especially chef salad.:)

Sure, a chef's salad with some ham or chicken chopped in is a great start before the 12 oz steak arrives
SHRIMPS!! and gruyere cheese. hehe

I'm addicted to salo.
A little bit is ok. But it can throw your cholesterol balance way off kilter.

I'll stick to my free range pigs, ducks, chickens, geese, goats and rabbits, supplementing them with venison and moose when the occasion arises. Even when I do my own bacon and sausage, I can control the nitrates.
We cure stuff without nitrites and nitrates altogether.

Cold-smoked salmon (pink preferably for me) is truly utopian. =)

I've yet to find a decent recipe that contains no nitrates that can keep some product from spoiling. Or in some cases from becoming what they're supposed to become. Lox comes to mind.

Oh ya cold smoke meat and fish using only wood is a common practice.

It's certainly not safe to swallow that contiuous malarky. For most of the decades of my life, they have been preaching against eatng natural fats in eggs, butter, meat because it led to high cholesterol. An old family Biochemist friend of ours (who only lived to be 92) always said that it was all nonsense, that your digestion deconstructs all if the chosteral and that your liver generated all of the serum choleresterol regardless of what you ate. Now, after a half century of this heavy duty propaganda, my old friend as proven right, that there isn't a shred of evidence connecting butter on our toast to cholesterol in your blood stream.

They often contradict themselves.

The current fad at the moment in Britons is eating five portions of fruit and/or veg eat day. The official name for this is our "five a day". Now the Nanny State which runs modern Britain wants to try to force us to eat our "five a day", so packets of carrots or potatoes or apples or bananas or mixed salad are all labelled with the infantile phrase "Part of your five a day!", as though we're all children who need to behave ourselves by eating our greens.

5 A DAY - Live Well - NHS Choices

And then, despite all that, despite constantly being told by our Nanny State that we have to eat our "five a day!", we then have newspaper reports telling us that eating too much fruit could lead to us feeling bloated and tired.

So what do we do? Continue to eat our "Five a day!" as the State keeps telling us, out cut fown on our fruit and veg so we don't feel "bloated and tired"?

The "five a day" was taught to us as children decades ago from "Canada's Food Guide" which is a leftover document from the WWII "take care of yourself and family" propaganda days. I actually follow it with no difficulty. On a typical weekday, I eat an orange, an apple and a banana to start with and some sort of veggie at supper. It's not me following a trendoid diet. It is an old habit and I miss it if I don't get my five.

Not sure which product you are talking about but, we use a brine with strong vinegar and pickling salt to soak meat in for a few hours and then cover the meat with herbs and a heavy dose of salt, and let it sit in cold storage for a few days, then bring it out and repeat the procedure. The salt kills bacteria left, right, and center, and the acid in the vinegar kills what is left as well as breaking down cellular walls.

Yes. Hot or cold smoked stuff is delish, but cold smoking leaves the natural oils and fats in the fish. It is very filling but nourishing as can be.

The problem with eating huge amounts of fruit is that fruit contains a lot of carbs/ calories. One has to work more to burn the stuff off.
Just sayin'

lol We do, but we also love corned beef, bacon, smoked sausage, ham, etc.

One time I had to work out in Phoenix away from home and while I was there I stayed with my dad. Dad became a hypochondriac in his later years and was paranoid of what he ate despite the fact he was healthy as a horse. one night I fried some spuds and offered some to my dad. He said oh no I can't eat those it'll ruin me. My reply was , dad, you're 73 years old have some spuds. While I wasn't looking he ate the whole skillet full.

my advise is drink lots of coffee it's good for the liver and if the liver is good, it will take care of the toxins. That's what I've heard anywho.
