This is no really big news story here in Britain. Every week we have stories in newspapers telling us that "Bacon can cause cancer!"; "Eggs can cause lung disease!"; "Cheese increases the chances of contracting Parkinson's!" There's nothing safe to eat anymore.

It's certainly not safe to swallow that contiuous malarky. For most of the decades of my life, they have been preaching against eatng natural fats in eggs, butter, meat because it led to high cholesterol. An old family Biochemist friend of ours (who only lived to be 92) always said that it was all nonsense, that your digestion deconstructs all if the chosteral and that your liver generated all of the serum choleresterol regardless of what you ate. Now, after a half century of this heavy duty propaganda, my old friend as proven right, that there isn't a shred of evidence connecting butter on our toast to cholesterol in your blood stream.

I'll stick to my free range pigs, ducks, chickens, geese, goats and rabbits, supplementing them with venison and moose when the occasion arises. Even when I do my own bacon and sausage, I can control the nitrates.

What's scary was the idea that hydrogenated vegetable oil (found in margarine for the longest time) was supposedly healthier than the natural animal fat in butter.

I am sure somebody will have a problem with that sometime.

Somebody already has. We've had visits from the ministry of agriculture, due to complaints from citiot neighbours. No problems, just the made up ones from citiots that should mind their own business.

In lotusland you have to drive deep into the woods to light a fire to smoke a coho. Campfires are status non grata.

These citiots didn't know that the animals die at the end of the season. Hell, we even used a 22 to keep it quite.

The west coast is a lunatic asylum. Day 21 of rotation I hit the road. Mrs loaded up the F150 and met me in rural MB. It's safe and sane here.

uhm, that's not true. My dad smoked salmon in our garage. We had emerald green grass with a beautiful silver glitter too.

My former employers smoked salmon in their garage in Delta and our neighbour smoked his in the backyard of his townhome here in Surrey. but now he's moved...and we have to go further to get some...damn him for moving...

Think I might need to learn how to smoke salmon now. gah
