In 1940, aged 14, Princess Elizabeth gave her first speech to her country as it was engulfed in one of the darkest periods of its history. She was sat alongside her younger sister Princess Margaret as she made the speech.
Nobody at the time knew, of course, that the young Princess Elizabeth would go on to become the longest-reigning and probably greatest-ever British monarch.
