actually the french, spanish and portugese were responsible for much more than the US or UK I'm afraid.

Not to split hairs or anything, but as long as we're naming names, lets not forget the Arabs, who trump them all. In fact slavery wasn't abolished in Saudi Arabia until the sixties, and many reports say that it still unofficially exists today.

thats true, very true in fact...the white slave trade also aws instigated by the arab world who had nothing to do with the black slave trade or indentured workers......I think it's really because african-americans and people from the carribean have had a much bigger press.

also, I think you'll find in the beginning it was the arab traders who sold the black slaves to the whites

:roll: Why bother fingerpointing to a particular type of people? Do you know there's as much variety in Arabs as there are White Europeans?? Probably not. Your namesake is unfortunately only to point out the facts that you accept as fact.

Modern Slavery unfortunately is still practiced much in Africa, usually the rural places, but there are places in the world besides africa also.

Where exactly is this man supposed to be deported to? My family has been in Canada for less time than his has been in Kenya. That doesn't make me any less Canadian and I'm pretty sure the Canadian government couldn't deport me. Why should this man be considered less than Kenyan?

I think I was, in a long kind of pertracted way, trying to make that point, completly agree...this conversation would not be happening if a white country demanded that it's black population be sent back to wherever they came from...nah that would be racist

You are correct. Slavery does continue in places in Africa and other places as well. But western style slavery has ended. And in that time period the British and others, Spanish and Portugese included killed at least 100 million people.

100 million is about 10 times the number transported in the 350 years of the trans-atlantic slave trade. It is way over the top. And, of course, most of those transported were NOT killed........to the plantation owners that would be like buying a tractor......then burning it in the yard. Not economic good sense.

Let's just say there was a hell of a lot of people enslaved......and killed.

Just look at the diversity of the regions they come from, the variety of dialects, and the different states & countries. From what I gather the Middle east has two kinds of cultures according to you: Israeli, and arab...

...But think of it this way, Semetic people are a hodgepodge of different groups, there's your Arabic, Assyrian, Berber (Amazigh), Israeli, Kurdish, Persian...Just to name a few. Many may share some traits/mannerisms of the others, but also have thier differences too. Just look at some of the different variations of the Muslem faith, :lol: there's almost as many as Christian sects.

It's natural for people to diverge based on region and family groups. Hell there's even three kinds of Inuit in Canada...I'm not counting the Siberian ones.

Oh yeah, one other thing that is usually forgotten in the Tsunami of white folk guilt............the trade from the interior to the coast was practically exclusively carried out by black and Arab slave traders...........

That's true. But Assyrians, Berbers, Kurds and Persians are not Arabs. Israeli is a nationality, not an ethnicity.

You really wanna know about the variety of different peoples, whether they be Arab or whatever, well talking about it isn't working. I'd reccomend perhaps a long vacation to visit these places you have all the facts on. :wink:

You couldn't find it either, huh? The closest I came was googling "ethnic varieties of arabs", but even that was mostly about birthweights and genomes. Nothing relevant to being jumped on for mentioning the Arab slave trade.

As far as lightening up goes, right back atcha. I asked an honest question and was met with disparagement.
