A little story...

When i met my gal, she was making minimum wage at a Call Center. I was in-between jobs, so I picked up a crap little minimum wage job picking up donations for the local Firefighters Assn.

BUT! NOW I had "drove for the Firefighters" on my resume!

I parlayed that job into working as a driver for the Government...and with that pay, put my girlfriend through College. Then she got a position as a Legal Secretary. Now together and married, we make over 100k.

My point? The millennials want it all right now, but it doesn't work like that. It's small steps leading to bigger things.

My other point? Minimum wage jobs shouldn't be for careers. They are there for students, second-income folks, retirees.. etc.

But you already know that. Got your PM, BOOMer. Thanks. Didn't know how to reply though. Couldn't figure out the settings, etc. I hope you found out who is disrupting your other websites.

Yeah I found out who... thanks

I just turned it over to the police. In Canada they have pretty good laws protecting online businesses.

I guess if they catch him, he will get community service and a fine, and I will know his real name.

(also please don't disclose private PM's)

Sorry. Improper etiquette saying you PM'd me. My bad.

The only other PM I got was from Cannuck, though. He sent me a naked picture of himself sitting outside...drinking a beer... with his balls hanging through the lawn chair.

While I don't think this is a huge issue for big corps.

How do you feel about real small buisness dealing with this change?

Could you as a small buisness owner eat a 31% increase in expenditures?

Oh, that's right, you have no idea what it's like to start a buisness.

First step would be to learn how to spell beeznees.

The Wynned Bag doubles down on her bullying. Good for her. Newsflash. Timmy's franchises are PRIVATE enterprises meaning the Premier has NO business butting in if they're not breaking the law. She really needs to shut the f*ck up! Is the stunned c*nt willing to drop the global adjustment fee from hydro bills to make things easier for small business? No, she's not.

Let's review some actual facts from StatsCan, shall we? Fact one: according to statistics Canada the majority of businesses in this province are small and medium sized businesses

Fact two: the majority of these businesses are not owned by billionaires

Fact three: the major cost for most businesses is labour

Fact four: average profit margin in most small manufacturing businesses, according to Bizzstats, is 14.56% per year. For retail, it's substantially less than that.

You whiny f*cks really crack me up. You'll pitch a bitch about this despite the fact that no laws are being broken, and yet ignore the fact that our PM and Finance Minister have violated federal law several times.

Face it f*ck-o, the Wynned Bag implemented this as quickly as she could because she thinks it'll buy her some votes come June. Typical neo-liberal progtard, buying YOUR vote with someone else's money. Every other province in Canada that is implementing the $15/hr minimum wage is giving small business time to adjust. The Wynned Bag wanted it done PDQ not for the workers, but her her own selfish interests.

The Wynned Bag was warned over and over that raising the minimum wage by 32% over such a short period of time would result in lost jobs, cut hours and benefits, etc. So how, in all honesty, can she act this way when she is the reason it's happening in the first place? But this is just typical of neo-liberal progtards. They bully people and then act all self-righteous when the bullied don't react to the bullying the way the liberal bully expects them to. No surprise you're gullible and stupid enough not to see that though.

Career or not while a person has a minimum wage job and works 40 hours a week they should at least be paid enough to survive. That is where the minimum wage line is supposed to be - the bare minimum to allow a person to survive. If it doesn’t pay enough we wind up paying for it through social assistance programs.

.

I’m pretty indifferent. I’ve never worked at one nor have I had the desire to do so. I’ll go where the money is which tends to not be small businesses.

Financially speaking quite a few. When I was on it I wound up having to go into debt to make up for what the wages couldn’t pay for. When you have to choose between rent and food it gets difficult. I’m well above minimum wage now and have taken care of those debts but I still remember what it was like to live on so little.

200,000 homeless during any given year.

Indeed. Most just assume they are just unemployed and homeless. Not always the case. I’ve worked with people who were homeless at the time.

You can legally drive 11 hours a day in the USA and 13 hours a day in Canada..

Ya lazy f*ck quitting after 8 hours, what do you think this is a Union.

..............................

On average a truck can run 620 miles a day with eLogs so $1550 per day on average x 5 days = $7750

Fuel runs $2.50 per gallon so fuel costs 98.5716613 m-3

Cost of driver 0.50

So I get a $1 per mile.. for my investment or $620 a day.

Now I have Insurance, Licenses, Workers comp, Blue Cross and any maintenance., but somehow still take home $6,000 per truck home each month.

The truck I drive, I take home $12,000 per month.

So with 3 trucks $24,000 per month take home pay. (Then Revenue Canada wants it's cut)

Lots better than any trucks make out here.

Who pays for meals on the road? And hotels?

I have to say Boomer. Nice you are a business owner and treat and pay your employees well. Nice to see a business owner who is for the raise of minimum wage. You already give your employees a decent salaries instead of being greedy and taking it all yourself. I see you appreciate what a hard earnsed hour is. These timmies guys work hard in an hour, and basically it is only costing the owners not even 2 cups of coffer an hour more to appreciate their hard constant work.

I know guys hear saying timmies is run by private individuals. But did you know that they pay about the same they make in a year profit, about avg 250,000 to the head corporation. They pay almost 20 percent of their gross intake of about 1.5 million before expenses to the head corporation. The top corporation of timmies should eat the loss not the private owners. The head corporations are the ones making too much. $3500 an hour for the top ceo.

You never answered my question. Did you thank the local businesses and corporations for feeding you via their donation program? The Sally Anns must spend a lot of time helping you and your unfortunate friends.

Their donation programs they do to look good. They even get tax break on it. Bill gates with a worth of 80 billion does nothing with his foundation that someone can do with that money to help the world, and still be fifthy rich.

IT is better for the economy to give money to the lower classes cause they spend it. While the rich just hord it unspent.

TORONTO — While the ugly fight between Tim Hortons and its franchisees appears to be far from over, a clear loser has emerged from the battle — Canada’s iconic coffee brand.

Tim Hortons’ corporate Twitter and Facebook profiles, normally home to the coffee and doughnut chain’s daily photo and message postings, have not been updated since the New Year, where the most recent postings have piled up a stack of condemnatory comments from the public.

“Tim Hortons has not addressed this properly,” John Miziolek, brand strategist and co-founder of Reset Branding. “We have an iconic Canadian brand that is being dragged through the mud.”
