A little story...
When i met my gal, she was making minimum wage at a Call Center. I was in-between jobs, so I picked up a crap little minimum wage job picking up donations for the local Firefighters Assn.
BUT! NOW I had "drove for the Firefighters" on my resume!
I parlayed that job into working as a driver for the Government...and with that pay, put my girlfriend through College. Then she got a position as a Legal Secretary. Now together and married, we make over 100k.
My point? The millennials want it all right now, but it doesn't work like that. It's small steps leading to bigger things.
My other point? Minimum wage jobs shouldn't be for careers. They are there for students, second-income folks, retirees.. etc.

Fact two: the majority of these businesses are not owned by billionaires
Fact three: the major cost for most businesses is labour
Fact four: average profit margin in most small manufacturing businesses, according to Bizzstats, is 14.56% per year. For retail, it's substantially less than that.

The Wynned Bag was warned over and over that raising the minimum wage by 32% over such a short period of time would result in lost jobs, cut hours and benefits, etc. So how, in all honesty, can she act this way when she is the reason it's happening in the first place? Career or not while a person has a minimum wage job and works 40 hours a week they should at least be paid enough to survive. That is where the minimum wage line is supposed to be - the bare minimum to allow a person to survive. If it doesn’t pay enough we wind up paying for it through social assistance programs.
I’m pretty indifferent. I’ve never worked at one nor have I had the desire to do so. I’ll go where the money is which tends to not be small businesses.
Financially speaking quite a few. When I was on it I wound up having to go into debt to make up for what the wages couldn’t pay for. When you have to choose between rent and food it gets difficult. I’m well above minimum wage now and have taken care of those debts but I still remember what it was like to live on so little.
Indeed. Most just assume they are just unemployed and homeless. Not always the case. I’ve worked with people who were homeless at the time.
I pay for meals and the trucks have sleepers.

I have to say Boomer. Nice you are a business owner and treat and pay your employees well. Nice to see a business owner who is for the raise of minimum wage. You already give your employees a decent salaries instead of being greedy and taking it all yourself. I see you appreciate what a hard earnsed hour is. These timmies guys work hard in an hour, and basically it is only costing the owners not even 2 cups of coffer an hour more to appreciate their hard constant work.
I know guys hear saying timmies is run by private individuals. But did you know that they pay about the same they make in a year profit, about avg 250,000 to the head corporation. They pay almost 20 percent of their gross intake of about 1.5 million before expenses to the head corporation. The top corporation of timmies should eat the loss not the private owners. The head corporations are the ones making too much. $3500 an hour for the top ceo.
Their donation programs they do to look good. They even get tax break on it. Bill gates with a worth of 80 billion does nothing with his foundation that someone can do with that money to help the world, and still be fifthy rich.
IT is better for the economy to give money to the lower classes cause they spend it. While the rich just hord it unspent.
