Justin Trudeau is a nice, polite boy, but that doesn't make him eligible to be Prime Minister of Canada. The women of the day made the same mistake with his old man.
Pierre Trudeau was the last true PM of Canada. Everyone since has been a puppet of the corporatocracy. Like him or hate him, he did what he thought was best for Canada. Everyone since did what was best for their corporate masters, and screw the people of Canada. In 1968 Pierre wanted to legalize pot but the Yanks came down hard on him and threatened trade sanctions and other crap. When Nixon called him to Washington to read him the riot act, Trudeau flew straight to Russia and made a trade deal with the Ruskies. That alone raised him in my opinion. That western Canadians are still butt hurt after all these years says more about them than Pierre. Although I think Justin may be a little premature in making a stand on legalization, it is not a new idea. People have been fighting for it for decades. I really hope he can succeed but I have my doubts. The Mafia and Hells Angels control a lot of MPs and the US would scream bloody murder.

Not necessarily. We have little idea how Campbell, Clark, or Turner would have turned out.

Pretty much, apparently he was more favoured by the women voters.
Fact or guess? My impression was that he appealed most to younger generations, regardless of gender.

We're going back about 45 years here and I don't have any figures to quote but I do remember the women going ga ga over him at the time. (1968)

I remember everyone loving him at the time. History was not quite as kind since it is reality and not just an experience. I remember when his train passed through my town. We all went. Fuddle duddle was the catch phrase.

Although my view of him now is not quite as kind at least he was a character worth remembering unlike anyone who has followed him since. An intelligent man and charismatic.

Justin Trudeau is 41 years old not 21. He is hardly a "boy". He is as eligible as any other Canadian. you better get used to Justin Trudeau. He is going to be prime minister whether you like it or not.

I wouldn't bet my first born. A week is a long time in politics, so they say. What has he actually shown us that qualifies him to be P.M.? Electing him as P.M. could be a huge mistake! -:)

Ah, predictions. I have a saying, "Localyokels and fools try to predict the weather".
"I've ceased making predictions on things because we'll see how they turn out." - David Plouffe

You got that right. Justin has the personality of a good encyclopedia salesman, but that's all I've seen so far. If he's serious about the P.M. job you'd think he'd be displaying other attributes by now!

You got it. How many times have I said, "politicians are all the same and tarred with the same brush". Others have compared them to a diaper that needs changing (but I'm too debonair for that) -:)

Different era, different circumstances. Sask. needed a boost and Dief sold wheat to China. We got rid of Dief and then we got bumbling Pearson, of course he was more of a statesman than P.M. I guess we got a flag out of him.
