Justin Trudeau riding high nearly a year after election, enjoying record approval

OTTAWA—11 months after the sweeping election victory that carried him into office with a majority mandate, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has never had the approval of more Canadians.

According to the latest Angus Reid Institute polling data, 65 per cent of Canadians approve of the head of government’s performance, compared to just 30 per cent who cast a concrete thumbs down toward the Prime Minister.

Since taking office last year, Trudeau’s approval rating has yet to dip below 60 per cent, according to Angus Reid—a sharp contrast to Canadians’ opinion of former Prime Minister Stephen Harper during his final term. Despite controlling a majority government, Harper never had the approval of half the population; his popularity peaked at 42 per cent at the end of 2014.

Even considering Trudeau’s popularity, Canadians remain concerned about the country’s economy. According to the poll, 31 per cent of Canadians think their standard of living is worse than a year ago, while just 16 per cent feel their situation has improved. In Alberta and in Newfoundland and Labrador voters are particularly gloomy about their financial situation.

Approval by whom? Those in his riding that voted for him? Or the countries that he gave our money to? Certainly not nationwide.

Yes, there are a few people that live in caves in Alberta that don't like him.

But that's only cuz truckers have small bits and need to buy guzzlers to hide their shame.

Trudeau's OK. I don't like how he hasn't lead the working class revolution, seizing the means of production for the proletariat and then dissolving the government to institute a socialist utopia, but he's cute and cuddles a panda like nobody's business.

Oh no definitely nationwide. At least that's what the poll says. 65%. You can list a few more things you don't like about Trudeau but he's still popular.

Justin Trudeau protest marks 'turning point' for frustrated youth

Students, civil servants staging rallies next week over costly education, contracts and flawed federal payroll

Tuesday's protests against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reflect a growing discontent over a lack of Liberal action on affordable education and jobs for young Canadians, youth leaders say.

And they warn that more demonstrations are likely on the way.

Amy Huziak, the young workers' representative for the Canadian Labour Congress, said Trudeau's rough reception at a "roundtable discussion" event marks a "turning point" for the government now one year into its mandate.

Yeah, I was going to say there's probably 25 thousand Syrians who like him. (Not sure how long that will last now that they've been cut back to basics) :)

Maybe he has the 'feminist snowflakes' enthralled, Ang but it is nice to see there are at least some young women aren't buying his shtick.

Trudeau simply off-loaded their care into the laps of the provinces, JLM - which is something they (the provinces) were worried about in the first place. The Feds will still be responsible for education and job training both of which have fallen far behind demand. Provinces will soon be seeing their budgets balloon as they are now forced to provide social assistance and cover all housing costs.

Education is at the top of the list in priorities for refugees especially as there is not much sense taking job training if you don't have clue what trainers are saying - yet the government has yet to open more centers. With more refugees on the way, the necessity of providing English language training is now of prime importance.

Next time pick a graph that shows current poll results. BTW, Nik Nanos is always quick to point out the fact that currently the PM has no real opposition. Mulcair will be gone before the next election and the Conservatives have yet to find a new leader which leaves the field wide open for Trudeau. That said, check out his latest numbers in the wake of castrogate, the pipeline announcement and the debacle of election reform - things aren't looking quite so rosy now.
