OTTAWA (The News Desk) — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and wife Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau shared a tender moment today during a question period speech by Minister of Foreign Affairs Stéphane Dion about international fisheries.
The couple was seen closing their eyes and pressing their foreheads together throughout Dion’s speech, which urged sitting members of Parliament to consider the impact of Canada’s foreign policy on global wild and farmed fish populations.
“What I ask the honourable members of the House to consider, today, is not Canada’s domestic fisheries policy, but the impact Canada can have on international fish populations. Fish, after all, do not stop at Canada’s borders,” said Dion, causing Trudeau and Grégoire-Trudeau to clasp hands and gaze into each other’s eyes lovingly.
“He’s right about the fish,” Trudeau told press afterwards, holding Grégoire-Trudeau close and wiping a tear from his eye. “It would be a mistake to forget fish when considering Canada’s foreign policy.”
