Nice and cold here in Gopherland. It was -20F yesterday with strong windchill.

Good thing we're not in Australia where they have had record brush fires in their past 2 summers. Now they're dealing with excessive rains!

well, we had our cold and now we are currently above 0.c so I can't really complain.

I think I've had to shovel snow about 3 times a week since the middle of November. Usually it takes me until mid February to get as heartily fed up with winter as I was at Christmas. We're already at record snowfall levels, the sidewalks and driveways in my neighborhood are trenches at least a meter deep and there's so much #@!%@!# snow around the house that we're almost certain to have some water seepage into the basement when it thaws in a few months. If it ever does, and I wouldn't bet on that right now. That's one of the predicted features of global warming, greater extremes. I could cheerfully do without it.

:canada:..........-20 right now @ 4:10 AM, and that's supposed to be the high for today, so it could be a tad chilly tonight.

Usually we get hit with a week of -30 the last of Jan. or early Feb., so those thrills are yet to come. Until now it's been a fairly mild winter with less that the usual amount of snow. And that suits.
