I have always enjoyed NY humor and she was an example of what this is all about. Like Don Rickles, Jackie Gleason, Danny Kaye, Andy Kaufman, and others who were eccentric, abrasive, and had good one liners, she created legends about herself while still engaging in self effacement. In a sense she (like they) were having a good laugh at other people's expense but laughing at themselves at the same time.

According to CNN, a source close to the investigation says Joan Rivers' personal doctor took a selfie with her while she was unconscious during her throat procedure.
The source also reveals that same doctor allegedly performed a biopsy on the comedian without her prior consent and that during that procedure, Rivers went into cardiac arrest.

Late comedienne Joan Rivers had one final shock in store for her Facebook fans on Friday morning when a note she set to promote the new Apple iPhone before her death earlier this month briefly popped up.
Calling the new iPhone 6 a "great achievement in design", Rivers promoted the new gadget as a "great product", much to the surprise of eagle-eyed fans, who thought the message was from the TV personality's ghost.
The post was quickly removed.
