Peapod,

I believe this and many other threads are signs of desparation when they try to guess what some man did 2000 years ago without any direct evidence.

Did you mean: desperation  I don't care what you believe tibear, thats your choice...that is something that you don't seem to be able to "get". Right or wrong they are your beliefs and I applaud the fact that your are able to have them. YOU are not going to change anyone's mind here, anymore than we can change yours. What you do is show us all how reasonable, factual and what a great canadian the Rev is...keep it up :D

Peapod,

I respect your right to have your own beliefs but I do have a problem when you force your beliefs onto the rest of us.

You got that ass backwards...tibear its you that is trying to force your beliefs on the the rest of us...just like continually bringing up the never ending story of abortion

Here is the difference between you and I. Like you no doubt I believe that life begins at the moment of conception, so abortion would not have been a CHOICE for me...but I have no problem with it being a choice for others. Its called "freedom" I am not the one bringing up topics that really have no answers except for indivdual choice, you are.

Peapod,

Let me get this straight. Your pro-abortion but believe life begins at conception. So you personally believe that abortion kills human beings. Is that what you said???

As for imposing beliefs, both sides are trying to impose their beliefs onto the other but the SSM proponents are so closed that they fail to recognize that.

If you believe in personal choice with regards to everyone's life, then there shouldn't be any illegal drugs, relationships, lack of education, slavery(pimping), .... If people want to get into a situation that is detrimental to them it is their choice.

As I've said in other threads, the thing that bugs me the most is people that are inconsistent with their beliefs. So you either believe in personal freedom of choice or you don't. I personally believe that society needs to protect people from themselves in certain situations(abortion(kills innocent), illegal drugs(kill innocent and causes crime), etc)

Funny you should mention that. When I was younger I worked with "emotionally disturbed" kids. One of the most onerous tasks of the job was trying to find big brother-sister type volunteers to spend some one on one time with a kid just for an hour or two a month even. Go to a movie, play some hoops in the park, whatever.

Do you think we could find anyone? Uh uh. Very rare to get someone to commit for more than a few weeks. Even university students who had volunteer work as a requirement of their curriculum would soon disappear.

My question is...where were all the pro-lifers? Am I to believe that life is precious from the moment of conception...to the moment of birth? Once the child is born, it's somebody elses problem.

That experience has led me to look upon participants at pro-life rallies with disdain and disgust. <homer simpson voice>Oooo, look at moral me, I carry a sign once a year to defend unborn babies, I'm such a good person. </homer simpson voice>

I personally believe that society needs to protect people from themselves in certain situations(abortion(kills innocent), illegal drugs(kill innocent and causes crime), etc)

(self righteous snobbery (ruins peoples lives for no reason), (rampant misinformation(causes people to believe drugs cause crime and kill innocent) etc.

inconsistent with their beliefs...   You have no idea how boring that remark is. Peoples beliefs change "all the time" its called growing. The more experiences you have in life with people and this planet the more old ideas are replaced with new ones. Again...Do I contradict myself?? Well than I contradict myself!! I am large, I contain multitudes!!! ...do you understand the meaning of that?? read some Walt Whitman.

MY belief that life begins at the moment of conception, cannot be proven, its just a "gut feeling" for me. So if the next person believes something quite different, I have no problem with that. They could be right :p it does not matter to me  I only concern myself with my own journey..and in the end its the only journey that was my business
