Re: What could possibly go wrong?

When my son was in drama we had one dad who wanted to put dry ice in the 'witch's shack' in a play, the shack the kid who played the witch would be sitting in, so that it would come out the chimney as smoke. When the mom refused on safety grounds, he threw a massive snit fit. Some people just don't think.

Particularly when they have effects that are meant for such things. Smart mom and I am glad she was on top of it.

Well there is some stellar thinking. Jesus! Apparently hypoxia is a pleasant way to kick the bucket but that should be on your own terms and not an act of stupidity by somebody else.

Jagermeister pool party guest in coma 'after liquid nitrogen reacts with chlorine'

A 21-year-old man was in a coma in Mexico and eight other people were treated in hospital after liquid nitrogen reacted with chlorine at a pool party organised for the spirit company Jagermeister.

The victims were poisoned after staff reportedly poured nitrogen into the pool, causing a toxic cloud after the liquid reacted with the chlorine in the water.

A number of those at the party had to be rescued after fainting and falling ill from the fumes.

A man named in local reports as Jose Ignacio Lopez del Toro, 21, was in a coma in intensive care after the party in Leon, Guanajuato in central Mexico on Saturday.

"To start the show, events staff emptied the contents of the cans into the pool where there were about 30 young people, pouring the liquid into the water, which apparently reacted with the water, causing a large gas cloud," one witness told journalists in Mexico.

Videos and pictures from the event showed panic and chaos after fumes started rising from the pool.

Public prosecutors were said to be investigating the organisers of the party, which have so far not been identified.

Four of the victims have filed a complaint with the Attorney General of the state, Manuel Angel Hernandez Hernandez.

The mayor of Leon, Barbara Botello, has called for reforms to regulate pool parties in the wake of the incident, according to Mexican newspaper El Universal.

The event was hosted for the German liquor brand Jagermeister, a 35 per cent spirit popular with students and young people.

A Jagermeister spokesman said: "We are aware of this incident in Leon, Mexico, which is currently being investigated by our headquarters here in Germany.

"We are liaising with the responsible distributor in Mexico who is working with the event organisers and the investigating authorities to understand the full circumstances surrounding the events last Saturday night. We fully support responsible drinking and adhere to the guidelines within each market in which we operate."

You can also be burned by the cloud as well. A WWE wrestler, Triple H, was injured in such a fashion. He walked through an archway during his entrance at the last Wrestlemania and the smoke created some 2nd degree burns on his abdomen.
