I have been on the B.C. healthcare system, which is atrocious. The Manitoba Health care system which was okay back in the 80's. The New Brunswick heath care system which was okay back in the 90's. The Ontario healthcare system which is absolutely atrocious. And now the Alberta Healthcare system which I think is far superior.
As far as the doctors go in all of these provinces, I think they do the best they can with what they got. The governments on the other hand are completely mismanaging the funds that taxpayers, not Ottawa, fork over.
Sadly, the Wynne government will pay for a sex change operation or fertilization therapy, but stops short on cancer treatment. Much of the funding for treatment, drugs and therapy are augmented by private care, like Blue Cross and the Cancer Society.
Politicians who like to mouth off about universal healthcare are anything but universal. The Canadian Health Care system should be centralized and controlled not by the provinces, who are anything but honest brokers. There should be one set standard across the country and if it needs tweaking it should apply to all provinces.
Gender reassignment surgery or helping mothers get pregnant should not trump life saving cancer treatments. The only reason they do is because politicians use the health care system as fodder.
