It’s Official. Trump Just Withdrew the U.S. From the Paris Climate Agreement.

Meanwhile Canada is building more pipelines and stepping up it's "resource extraction projects".

Canada has already pulled out of the agreement.

On the bright side... the world won't end.

further reading:

While Obama agreed to the Paris accord through executive action, the US Senate approved the original treaty that was the UN's basis of the overall Paris agreement back when George H.W. Bush was president in 1992.

Exiting the overall UN agreement would take a year, but would likely require Senate approval. Trump didn't indicate that he wanted to abandon the overall treaty.

Of course, Trump also said he was willing to renegotiate the agreement.

Wonder what they mean by: would likely require Senate approval. What would change to either require or no require it?

Well that is kind of a stretch. Because the Senate ratified a completely separate treaty 1992 (another non-binding and non-enforceable treaty) the author of the article believes that Trump could not pull out of the Paris Deal. A big stretch indeed. Again, just trying to lessen the blow.

Exiting the overall UN agreement would take a year, but would likely require Senate approval. Trump didn't indicate that he wanted to abandon the overall treaty.

The US exited yesterday. The UN can say whatever they please but what they say has no bearing on what the US does. Obama did this under executive order and it has now been undone. The agreement itself was non-binding and non-enforceable. How can they enforce that which is non-enforceable.

He did say he was willing to renegotiate the deal and that is a good thing. I'd like to have the deal that China has.... not obliged to do a thing until 2030. Of course that was the only way China would sign.

It appears that the other signatories of the Paris Deal do not want to renegotiate the deal. Oh well... Trump tried. ;)

Wonder what they mean by: would likely require Senate approval. What would change to either require or no require it?

I do not know what they mean either. It was never ratified by the Senate. The author is reaching for straws.

This quote from Trump....is...well.

Frickin hilarious.

"Even if the Paris Agreement were implemented in full, with total compliance from all nations, it is estimated it would only produce a 2/10 of one degree – think of that. This much….Celsius reduction in global temperature by the year 2100. Tiny tiny amount."

Well golly, isn't that the point and.....how....how?

How would it do that? Considering it's a....what's the word....um....covfefe...no that's a secret among Trumps elite....oh yeah....hoax.

I love this guy.

a little more info(?):

America’s commitments under the Paris deal, like those of the other 194 cooperating nations, were voluntary. So those burdens were imaginary.

No, Trump’s abrupt withdrawal from this carefully crafted multilateral compromise was a diplomatic and political slap: It was about extending a middle finger to the world, while reminding his base that he shares its resentments of fancy-pants elites and smarty-pants scientists and tree-hugging squishes who look down on real Americans who drill for oil and dig for coal.

Exactly! What is now known for at least the next few years is that we're out of this non-binding, voluntary agreement. We won't be volunteering any funds nor enacting any economy crippling regulations.

The funny thing is, I don't think Canada is going to be doing any of that either. They are plunging ahead with more pipelines and expanding "resource extraction programs". (oil, natural gas, tar sands... fossil fuels)

All part of the massive conspiracy.

What conspiracy?

It might be a good thing, as we don't know the full story yet and to jump in with both feet before we have ALL the facts is fool hardy at best. Kinda gotta agree with the Donald on this one. Maybe best to take a second look a year or two hence!

Did you read it?

Did you read it?

I have to ask now... did you read it?

And for something that the world takes seriously, the leaders of the world just say, "what'evs, we don't need you anyways?", when America emits 20%+ of the world's carbon?

Weird mentality these reptiles in suits have

It has been a roller coaster for them. Everything from "what evs" to "mass extinction". They need to get their reactions in sync.

Trudeau 'deeply disappointed' after Trump withdraws from Paris climate agreement | Daily Hive Vancouver

The three countries not part of the Paris Climate Accord:

Nicaragua
Syria
U.S.A.

Let that sink in.

Take all the time you need.

The 3 countries that have a one-option, single payer 'universal' healthcare system

Canada
Cuba
North Korea

OMG!!... An ice free North pole since 2013!

Unlike the carefully crafted multilateral compromises in the Kyoto Accord and the Copenhagen Agreement.

Can you see the trend here?
