Crap like this is why you are enjoying some time away from CC. Grow up. If it wasn't for them fighting for us, we wouldn't be here right now. Start showing some respect for once in your life.

Lest we forget.

We should never forget.:canada:

Should I be wearing a PoPpY?
Yes. You live in a free and peaceful country and sleep easy in your bed because a lot of people died to guarantee you that privilege, and tough men and women still stand ready to defend it. It is right and proper and necessary that we show respect and honour to them all, living and dead, by wearing the poppy. That's what it means. It's the least you can do.

I'm proud, sad and grateful all at the same time while wearing the poppy, and I will never forget.

We have a wonderful life in this country, and thank you to 'them' for that priviledge, we should
treasure every moment, and thank 'them' every day.

Thousands of soldiers never had the 'chance' to live their lives beyond the day they lay on the
battle field, mortally wounded, if one has any doubts about the importance of the poppy, just imagine
yourself lying there instead, then perhaps the reality of 'that' situation will
sink in.

I got mine the day before halloween and I gave them $2 for it too..... you should feel guilty. Thousands of men and woman have sacrificed their lives in brutal combat and war and you can't even be bothered to shell out a couple of quarters to wear a poppy to show that their sacrifices didn't go un-noticed?

Even my wife from Australia has her poppy on and they don't even celebrate Remembrance Day the way we do...... she's showing more respect for our fallen soldiers then you are.

*Points Finger* FOR SHAME!!!

Grab the Tar and grab the feathers...... and grab the torch.

Which soldiers that died for me? Romans? The ones that were desperate for a job and figured the $28 a week combat pay was the good life? We still see plenty of that today don't we. They don't have to die for me. I'll gladly pay their welfare.

Thanks, shadowshiv! Good riddance - albeit only temporary - of bad, hate-spreading rubbish.

And yes, I will be wearing the poppy!

How so? Please explain in full.

Please Explain in Full?

WTF kind of ignorant question is that?

Read a damn book and educate yourself on some friggin history.

Obviously someone can't "Remember" for Remembrance Day..... Because they never knew in the first place.

And my ancestors would have never met and had offspring otherwise?

Quite possibly..... in fact, it's possible your own parents may never have met depending on your age and when they met..... they could have been killed during WWI or WWII.... which would obviously lead to you never being born. Maybe if our troops didn't liberate a certain area or fight in a particular battle, that would have been enough to shift history enough that one of your parents (or their parents) might not have moved to where they met, but instead went somewhere else or met someone else..... hence again, you would never have been born.

If, hypothetically during WWII, our country and the US, as well as every other allied nation that fought, just decided to lay down and take it up the ass with a Würste..... chances are many of our parents & grandparents would have been worked to death or just simply killed..... unless you were from German decent and/or have blonde hair and blue eyes...... if you were a minority, didn't believe the same beliefs and ideals as the Germans, were not fit, etc..... you would be sent to a concentration camp where you'd work until you died or were just simply killed on the spot with a lugar or p38 to the back of the head.

What happened through most of Europe and was starting to occur in the USSR and Africa would have most likely have happened here in Canada and in the US if people didn't sign up to defend us, liberate those oppressed and defeat Nazi Germany.

^ Why anybody needs to explain this to you is just mind boggling.

My parents met at university as the war ended, so it's quite certainly possible that I wouldn't be here without WW2.

However, that's not why I wear a poppy. I wear one because I want to honour the memory of people who willingly signed up, and fought for what we all believed was a greater cause.

In hindsight, some will sit around believing we were all stooges of the great capitalist conspiracy to rule the world.

Others will simply acknowledge the horrors that people voluntarily suffered, because we all thought the cause worthwhile.

Well now. If they didn't fight the Nazis, how many of us would be here typing at CC? How many of us would fit their profile of the proper race? How many of us would be dead because we weren't to their liking.

Something like this needs no explanation.
