The attack against Israel in 1967 by the surrounding Arab states made things even worse for the Palestinians as Israel not only beat back the attackers but ended up gaining one hell of a lot of territory. Palestine would have been far better off if the surrounding Arab states had minded their own business and not continued to try and "drive the Jews into the sea". Each attack upon Israel has resulted in worse times for the Palestinians. The answer seems quite clear to me looking at the history. Stop attacking Israel and Palestine will be able to start recovering.

Persons over the age of eighteen years may opt, within one year from the date of recognition of independence of the State in which they reside, for citizenship of the other State, providing that no Arab residing in the area of the proposed Arab State shall have the right to opt for citizenship in the proposed Jewish State and no Jew residing in the proposed Jewish State shall have the right to opt for citizenship in the proposed Arab State. The exercise of this right of option will be taken to include the wives and children under eighteen years of age of persons so opting.
Arabs residing in the area of the proposed Jewish State and Jews residing in the area of the proposed Arab State who have signed a notice of intention to opt for citizenship of the other State shall be eligible to vote in the elections to the Constituent Assembly of that State, but not in the elections to the Constituent Assembly of the State in which they reside.

F. ADMISSION TO MEMBERSHIP IN THE UNITED NATIONS

When the independence of either the Arab or the Jewish State as envisaged in this plan has become effective and the declaration and undertaking, as envisaged in this plan, have been signed by either of them, sympathetic consideration should be given to its application for admission to membership in the United Nations in accordance with article 4 of the Charter of the United Nations.

The Arab-Israeli War of 1948 broke out when five Arab nations invaded territory in the former Palestinian mandate immediately following the announcement of the independence of the state of Israel on May 14, 1948.


If the Arab nations, who had no business interfering, had NOT attacked Israel, then you could be quoting the above and more to your hearts content. The fact is, the Surrounding Arab nations, Arab armies from Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia sent a formation that fought under the Egyptian command, attacked Israel first. Unprovoked, and they did it again in 1967, and continue today by proxie.

There is a split on how many Arabs were chased out after Nov/1947 and Nov/1948. The original push included many and then the US let them become a Nation in May/48 using a different border. At that time the exiles were pretty much clued in that they wouldn't be coming back and that 'right to return' clause that did exist said all claims would not be perused through the courts like they were designed to do.

That must have set a new record for the signing of a treaty and the breaking of a treaty. That doesn't not look good on a resume, rap sheet, maybe, depends if you are caught or free.

One other question that might be asked is why does the opinion of Canada mean more in a vote like this than that of the Nations that are in the area. The Arabs could have been brought in if they had been allowed to be the majority Govt. Iran and Afghanistan are living proof that when left with the human rights documents that the parts the implement first deal with uplifting women and children is the social network that operates under a common set of guidelines. If the ones that voted yes can be shown to be 'forced' the the vote is void. I woulf go after Haiti, they just paid off a freedom laon that took 250 years so they can't be threatened by the US.
