RE: Israeli soldiers capt

I've actually got a university degree in history and politics, I don't pull my ideas out of my arse.

That you have a university degree in history and politics has nothing to do with whether or not you pull ideas out of your arse.

Perhaps rather than even pulling ideas out of your arse, you are like a human tape recorder, and merely record other people's ideas into your head. That is about all one could get from a degree in poli sci.

Note, this is not really an attack on you colpy, but an attack on the politics degree in general... and hell, it's an attack on all my friends who possess a degree in poli sci (or politics, or whatever) for showing me how this degree taught them little more than how to recite the definition for words like federalism.

By taking the logic of some folks here, and certainly the logic Israel has utilized, and flipping it around:

Since Israel kidnapped Lebanese civilians, Lebanon has the right to protect itself by destroying the infrastructure of Israel.

Right or wrong?

Wrong.

First of all, I hadn't heard of Israel kidnapping Lebanese folks.

Secondly, south Lebanon is competely under the control of Hezbollah. If the Lebanese government and army controled it, there would be no war. Peace would reign along the border.

Thirdly, Israel does not have as its reason for existence the complete and total destruction of Lebanon. Hezbollah exists only to kill Jews.

"Our side" is the side of capitalist western civilization. That civilization has made more people rich, and kept more people free than any other in history. It is the apex of human development.

The apex of human development???! You don't have very high standards. More people rich? Now that's funny... If having countries like the US, Canada and other so-called Western democraties getting fatter and fatter like little piggies in an orgy of over-consumption while the third of the world is living in SHIT is your idea of "the apex of human development", you have very low standards indeed.

Our systme does have its qualtities, but it's seriously flawed. It's going nowhere. If we go on in the same direction, we are heading straight towards a serious world crisis and we are going to PAY. Think for a second what is the price of your freedom. Who is your glorious western society crapping on in order to conserve its comfort???

Less reported is that there were two Lebanese captured just before this took place.

Human being, I do apologise. I misread your post thinking you had said it was less reported that they were captured on the lebanese side.

I do hope you take my apology to you as it is meant, in earnest.

The information you gave though is an interesting revelation because the day prior to the "capture" of Gilad Shalit 2 palestinians were also taken captive by the IOF. Two brothers both civillians.

Again I am sorry.

In a C-Span report this evening, Paul Salem of the Carnegie ME Center reported that Israel crossed the so-called "blue line" into Lebanon at least 25 times in recent years and that this raid in which
This is one sided tripe. How many times were they responding to rocket attacks, how many of these violations where flyovers, how many attacks by Hezbollah across the line in that time?

An example of Israel crossing was an incident that happened in february this year.

"Lebanon and the United Nations confirmed Thursday Israeli troops killed a 15-year-old shepherd inside Lebanon, after investigations were carried out by peacekeeping forces along the Lebanese-Israeli border.'

UNIFIL's senior adviser Milos Strugar told The Daily Star that a UNIFIL investigation into the incident had "confirmed the shepherd was killed inside Lebanese territories."

"The results will be communicated to the proper UN authorities," he added. Struger also said that a shotgun was found near the body of the dead boy.

"This is a blatant assault against Lebanon's sovereignty," Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora told Parliament, adding that Lebanon was in contact with the UN over the incident.

"The martyr was shot dead while he was on Lebanese territories, he had not crossed the borders toward the occupied land," said Siniora, who met with UN representative in Lebanon Gere Pedersen later in the day.

Pedersen condemned the shooting following his meeting with Siniora, calling on the concerned parties to practice "self restraint."

"Everyone knows how serious the situation is ... and we denounce this incident," he added.

This is one indicent out of god knows how many where the IDF have gone into Lebanon.

This sort of thing is not made "news" to the western MSM and this is the type of thing that should be shown to us all so at least people can mane INFORMED decisions on how they stand on a situation, rather than seeing only what the MSM want to be known.. having said that though, I am an Australian, ocker through and through and it was through interest of wanting to know what happens outside the box that lead me to look further into the ME goings on.

seems to me "freethinker" you tend to go WITH the one sided tripe rather than explore everything else happening outside the FAUX news, etc broadcasts.

For the record too, even a flyover is a violation as per UNSCR 425, which is probably the one and only UNSCR that israel has ever honoured... took them near to 2 decades to comply.. but still they did for a change.

Finally managed to drag up a map.

The red arrow is where the Lebanese Police claim the kidnapping occurred. The Israelis are claiming it happened somewhere between Zarit and Shetula. The Shebbas are over to the east.

just for reference.

It appears that the consensus is that the two IDF soldiers were captured inside Lebanon by Hezbollah.

In response to Hezbollah's legal defense of Lebanon's sovereignty, Israel began illegally bombing and killing Lebanese civilians.

In response to Israel's war crimes, Hezbollah began criminally bombing and killing Israeli civilians.

Two things seem clear to me.

Both Israel and Hezbollah want a war, so the world can forget about a ceasefire.

Our news media is yet again manipulating us, by failing to report all the facts, while obscuring the greater truth with selective truths and outright lies.

We are to be intelli-gant people..read the art of war.....there is no wrong or right....war is just that "WAR" if you go in go in for the capture not the response............We are ALL used to the old wars when the soldiers were hand to hand...this meant care and heart.............now we shoot them on a "SCREEN MUCH LIKE YOURS" it doesn't matter.................If they want to fight, let them, just get it over with before the reruns come on.............THEY DO NOT CARE..........

RE: Israeli soldiers capt

Somebody was looking for this earlier, I believe...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muamar_family_detention_incident
with some references

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5112846.stm
here it is again. propaganda aside, the article at least mentions that IDF did something June 24. ever since this time, the incident is not mentioned in relation to the IDF and its operations. only shalit's incident is ever mentioned.

And if you don't trust wikipedia, then look through the references or challenge the editors in the talk discussion.
