Saddam tried to kill his daddy, my god SJP I hope you would also try and avenge your daddy like her did. He is the good son, next to Jeb of course.

Yeah, I think the sins of old George came back to roost on young George. O.G. should have finished off Saddam in '91, as there was no contraversy as to who started that War.

That is what I thought he was going to do also in '91. I know no one was prepared for occupation then, but then again no terrorist groups were prepared in Iraq either. Always will wonder if George senior had completed the invasion how the area would be today?

If it were me as an American, I wouldn't care so much that the Big O was diplomatic enough to trades bows with Arabs and Chinese, wore a comb-over, was 3' tall, green-skinned, and had 3 noses as much as I'd care about the job he did as a prez and he isn't finished that yet. But I think from what I've read, he could have done things better. Who knows what it's going to look like when he's done? Predictions are plentiful but they are at best, educated guesses and at the least, wild speculation..

Well, that's just it - no one has a crystal ball, but these polls that started five minutes after the inaugural ball was over are just ridiculous. The guy has to be given at least four years, then we can tally up the marks.

We keep repeating these same old tired threads periodically but since right wingers want to attack Carter, let's set the record straight yet again. Unemployment by pres:

Hoover (R) 12.90%
Ford (R) 7.78%
Reagan (R) 7.51%
Obama (projected until 2016) (D) 6.99%
Harding (R) 6.93%
Carter (D) 6.56%
Bush Sr. (R) 6.32%
JFK (D) 5.98%
Bush Jr. (R) 5.30%
Clinton (D) 5.19%
Nixon (R) 5.01%
Eisenhower (R) 4.91%
Johnson (D) 4.20%
Truman (D) 3.87%
Coolidge (R) 3.30%

Unemployment was higher under Ford. True, the inflation rate was higher under Carter starting in 78 but that was because of the OPEC oil crisis and the Iranian Revolution that caused shortages and a spike in prices. But, as always, it's BLAME CARTER!

But that has always been true, gopher, that is nothing new (except to conservatives here, and they won’t hear no matter how much you shout the truth at them).

There have been several studies which show that economy performs much better under Democratic presidents than under Republican presidents. All the economic indicators, employment, increase in real income, stock market etc, perform much better under Democratic administration. They have looked back 100 years. Republicans had a slight the edge in inflation; inflation was slightly higher under Democrats than under Republicans.

But overall, economy performs much better under Democrats than under Republicans. Indeed, look at stock market. It skyrocketed under Clinton, then went nowhere for eight years of Bush. In the one year Obama has been in office, it has skyrocketed again.

But but but Anna.....It's so much fun after hearing the other side rant for eight year..... and a few koolaid drinking left wingers are still going on about it...The only problem is that we will have only two more years:lol:;-)

You wish. Very likely Obama will be around for seven more years. Republicans said the same thing about Clinton. The day after Clinton was elected, Republicans started spouting the official party line that Clinton is a one term president.

These days the official Republican party line is that Obama is a one term president. Just wishful thinking, nothing more. Same as just before the election, Republicans were convinced that McCain had the election in the bag. Or maybe according to you, McCain did indeed win but Obama rigged the election (with the help of ACORN)?

OK, so finally you admit that Iraq invasion had nothing to do with fighting terrorism, nothing to do with WMDs, one of the reasons was purely personal revenge against Saddam? No doubt that is what most Republicans know in their heart, but they won't admit it.

Bush essentially spent hundreds of billions of dollars, killed US citizens by the thousands (by invading Iraq Bush was responsible for death of more Americans than Osama ben Laden was by his 9/11 terrorist attack) and killed Iraqis by hundreds of thousands, all for personal vendetta, personal revenge.

Bush organized Kuwait operation under the auspices and approval of UN. The approval extended only to throwing Saddam out of Kuwait, there was no approval for invading Iraq itself.

Bush had built up a worldwide coalition to liberate Kuwait. If after that he had invaded Iraq, the coalition would have quickly fallen apart; Bush would have invaded Iraq largely on his own. He would have faced the same challenges, the same problem as his son did.

The world was with Bush when he liberated Kuwait. If he had invaded Iraq, US would have become a pariah nation, as it became under his son. Don’t believe for a moment that the elder Bush would have had an easy time of it in Iraq.

That should make you happy, ironsides. If he breaks USA, he won't be reelected, you will have a Republican president in 2012. Isn't that what you want? Then what is your beef?

Most Republicans would much rather US is financially ruined and a Republican gets elected in 2012, rather than US prospering and Obama reelected in 2012.

We won't be prospering by 2012, so your statement is mute.
You don't seem to understand that with most of us it is not the party that in power, but the individuals that party picks to run the country. Democrats, Republicans not much difference except that in this case Obama is appointing for the most part the very worse of the Democratic party and his friends (some are the very people who helped get us in this problem in the first place.) Obama is a man with barely enough experience to be a lawyer, let alone head of state of the greatest country there ever was. He and his family have never in their lives made as much money as they are now personally.
