Is it the H.S.T. that's wrong or the way it was brought in that was wrong?

Thanks to China logs are being exported in mass. Milling first might be a good idea.

Still selling raw logs eh..... only difference between now and 9 years ago..... they're going to china instead of the u.s.

BC Rail was sold to CN, wasn't it?

Part of the money making machine, now that it's no longer gov't operated.
parts are blacked out thanks to FOIA and it's open and honest distribution of alleged public information. http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/bcrail/BCRail_transaction_agreement.pdf

All the tree huggin in the 80's and 90's died off and now all the reforestation areas are now ready to harvest once again.

That is true of the urbanites but the rural areas did not want that clown and his minions. Notice the numbers in the chart that JLM posted. Those areas with the highest percentage were not metro Vancouver. In BC people in metro areas vote with their wallets, rural people vote with their conscience.

What? The area with the highest percentage is in metro Vancouver. As is the second and third highest.

Christi took over a mess, but then when she left government she had a huge mess in the
Ministry of Children and Families, so what goes round comes around. I think this group
is getting what they asked for they sat on their hands and let Gordo do what ever he wanted
instead of standing up to him. In the end they had to do what they failed to do in the first place.
Christi is going to face another up hill battle the good ole BC Rail issue will raise its head, and
it is a long way from over there is more to come out.
In the midst of the shifting angry voter the HST will seem like a source of comfort.
Voters are angry, and they are not going to let go, when they bill comes due and the truth
comes out no one is going to care, Christi is the replacement for Gordon and he is of the same
political stripe. Wait till people learn first hand the original deficit was actually over 3 billion
not 1..7 billion as the people were told. Does fudge it budget come to mind, as it was labelled?
With the Liberals in trouble, and the social conservatives revived in this Province all they need
is a 3% take away from Christi, and she is done like dinner.
No one cares about the mess she took over, to avoid disaster she should have put the cards
on the table, instead she gave the finance job to Kevin Falcon the biggest cheerleader for
Gordon Campbell. Christi has a huge uphill battle and time is not on her side. She is head of a
third term government and an angry electorate.

Yep, I never really followed it but there was a huge uproar about some sort of perceived skulduggery for one thing it was looked upon as selling off a resource. Two guys got into deep doo doo over it anyhow.

Yep, I can't see them winning the next election so maybe it's back to the likes of Elizabeth Cull and Glen Clark. Never ending circus!

I can't agree with you more, Durka. What a crock that whole thing was.

The saddest part being the total time wasted that should have been spent on important issues. I'll bet almost half the provincial budget in the past two years has been spent on this single issue.

What? The area with the highest percentage is in metro Vancouver. As is the second and third highest.

More like the rich burbs like North and West Vancouver and Point Grey. Which would include British Properties probably the wealthiest riding in all of Canada and yet they accept the H.S.T. and have the most to lose by it. Something is "Rotten in Denmark".

The HST was full of lies, from the beginning. First, the way it was brought in. Second, that it's revenue neutral. It's additional tax, plain and simple. If they don't want to burden industries like the film industry with additional tax, do what they always did, give them tax credits. If tax reduction is great for everything reduce the f'kin taxes. Don't implement a stifling add on tax like the HST. Saying it was anything but additional tax on everyone is just bs.

It is a complete fabrication that any business will reduce their prices with any tax savings they receive. My wife and I use to celebrate every friday evening with dinner out and a couple of drinks. Since these idiots brought in this additional tax we went out a few more times and got tired of paying more for nothing. In additional, the numbnuts in BC brought in this unconstitutional 05 process whereby cops became judge and jury on the road and no one had any due process. Between the HST and unconstitutional driving rules we said screw it. Now those restaurants never have us as customers. So I say thank you BCers for having the guts to stand up to lies and bulshyt.

Sad thing in Ontario is that the people here are more interested in their day to day and the kool aid drinkers think the HST was good for the economy. Dalton McGuinty actually had the audacity to say he wouldn't raise taxes if h\s elected for a third term, Sadly, he just might get it, because a lot of people would rather keep the lying scumbag sack of monkey splooge in than vote for Hudak.

Hudak better pull his head out of his ass if he doesn't want to lose this election.

Yeah, I'm in agreement with you re taxes but what do they tell the people who want hospitals and more and improved roads, more police protection, more libraries, more ambulances, more schools, higher paid teachers all the while the idiots who want all these things are getting to be more and more of a nuisance? On top of that you have more idiots clammering for the hell's angels to be arrested charged and thrown in jail and the streets cleared of pedophiles etc. etc.

You do what they always preach (out one side of their mouths), you cut taxes to put more money into the economy and put more people to work.

And you cut spending on things that only matter to politicians and their friends.

And for the most part when you build a mile of highway you don't have to blast a million yards of rock and you don't have a huge ferry system to maintain so that people can travel back and forth at their convenience to every rock on the B.C. coast they wish to inhabit and figure it should be part of the "highway system".

The people clearly spoke today. The other problem is that Campbell lied to the people. A
newsperson asked him during the last election if he was considering the HST and he said
it wasn't even on his radar. Clearly untrue. Right after the election within a month we had
the tax. The real reason was to cut a funding shortfall in half and now the money is going
to come due. I don't think people are going to accept excuses, they want their services and
the tax gone. It should be remembered, that in 2001 when Gordon came to power he gave
the richest two percent of people a two billion dollar tax break and now it should be clawed
back.
