I just heard a report on the CBC that said that a french newspaper has aquirerd evidence from the french intelligence services that show that Osama Bin Laden is dead. No comment from that French government so far.

Thoughts? Comments?

The unconfirmed rumor is Bin Laden died of Typhoid fever.

What are the signs and symptoms of typhoid fever?
If you have typhoid fever you may have the following symptoms:

constant fever up to 104°
diarrhea
constipation
stomach pain
headache
malaise
nonproductive cough
slow heart rate (bradycardia)
anorexia
How soon after exposure do symptoms appear?
Symptoms usually occur within 1-2 weeks after exposure to the bacteria, but can occur from 3 days - 3 months after exposure.

How is typhoid fever diagnosed?
Only your doctor can tell if you have typhoid fever. A blood or stool sample is needed to diagnose typhoid fever. The samples are examined for S. typhi bacteria.

How is typhoid fever treated?
Typhoid fever is treated with antibiotics. A person will usually recover in 2-3 days with prompt antibiotic treatment. People that do not get prompt medical treatment may continue to have a fever for weeks or months, and as many as 20% may die from complications of the infection.

LOL Here's an oxymoron: French Intelligence

This rumor circulates about every six months and then AlJazeera props up the cameras for yet another incarnation of the beloved bin....

We can only hope..... but there will be ten waiting in line to replace him.

i dont' give a sorry f*** whether Osama's dead or not. Why would I trust the media on that subject??? ... it's been fuzzy and unclear 'till day one...

Whatever they tell me on that guy, I'll have a hard time believing it... He's a modern myth to me...

Honestly I really doubt he's dead. If he is then he is. They'll tell you anything anymore hoping you'll believe it. Sorry but the only way i'll believe it is if they find his body and show it on TV for everyone to see that he's actually dead.

The Media can't be trusted in anything they say anymore and especally after 9/11 they'll fabracate their story to make it seem real.

Unfortunately it probably doesn't matter. He's a rat living in a hole and his death would have little impact on the Islamic nutbars. The actual physical man, alive or dead, is almost irrelevent.

'If' he is dead without conclusive evidence the Islamic world will experience a never ending equivalence of Elvis sightings. 'Osama has left the building'.

So far all the media is saying is that the French government leaked the story and they can't confirm if it is true or not. The media is only relaying what it it knows about it, which isn't much.

Yeah, what a few folks have said, it's about the same as if someone came out and declared that the Tooth Fairy had been shot- anyone think that the average Iraqi freedom fighter will decide that the current US occupation is now guaranteed to succeed and throw down there weapons?? I hope not..... as a matter of fact, if TOO much is made of this story, I would imagine it would rather be "giving comfort and aid to the enemy" , for if after 400 BILLION dollars and so many dead, the death of ONE MAN WHO MAY NOT EVEN EXIST being held up as any sort of "triumph" is laughable. If I were trying to drive foreign invaders from my country, and doing a pretty good job of it as the insurgency in Iraq is doing, and THIS was all they had to throw to their folks as a sign of "progress", then I would likely get the feeling that the invading force was getting desparate...

I wonder where this is gonna go?? Maybe if it is "proven" true, there can be some sort of "V-Bl" day to celebrate the killing of the biggest bogeyman of the last few decades

So, true or false, who cares, it is only the direction of the spin from here on out (and hopefully there'll be some fine quotes from Idiots like Limbaugh and O'Reilly and Coulter, alwasy good for some black-humour laffs) that interests me, personally

I will have to add that to my list of things not to read while drinking hot coffee infront of my computer. ROTFLMFFAO

To the topic at hand. If he dies at the hands of any foriegn power. Islam will explode in violence. If he fades away or dies of some illness, it would save a considerable amount of lives. But in the end, the blame will likely fall on the States. Their foriegn policy aside, they have become the global whipping boy as of late.

Somehow I don't "get" the concept that "Islam will explode in violence"

I am pretty sure that most Muslims don't care too much about Bin-laden. The notion that the whole of the worlds Muslims actually care what happens to the possibly-never-existed-or-at-least-didn't-really
-have-anything-to-do-with-ANYTHING "Bin Laden" is kinda laughable, matter of fact. If Islam were the reactionary, dangerous religion that it is often painted as, there would have been a pretty big reaction by now...

I would suggest that most moderat Muslims would actually allplaud tha death of the boogeyman, so that they can be left alone. Hell, if someone I didn't have ANYTHING to do with did something that stupid and brought the heat down on me and all my friends, I would be pleased that the one purportedly responsible was taken out, cos then they have their pounds of flesh and they can shut up, having vanquished their boogeyman

You don't honestly believe that EVERY MUSLIM loves the caricature of evil that is Bin-laden, do you?? Even if there are a few moderate types who honestly believe that Bin-laden was indeed behind the 9-11 attacks, and think that the stated position of "driving the infidels out of the Muslim lands" might be a pretty good idea, anyone with any common sense would have to admit that the backlash from the attack (9-11) was totally disproportionate, and led to the global suffering of MANY Muslims, and thus is not something to be celebrated.
Just a thought, I had to address the inherent paranioa reflected in the sentiment that the entire Muslim world would erupt in apocalyptic violence at the death of a puppet who has done literally nothing since the alleged planning of the 9=11 attacks besides make crappy videotapes from a cave-
If Bin-laden was the one the entire Muslim world was counting on, then the "clash of civilizations/ideologies/whatever" is a farce, cos "enemy #1" has not done sweet bugger all for years and if crappy videotapes were the whole of the threat, then the whole war on terror is much ado about nothing

There was, actually, not massive though, no. But I pretty sure they realise, that if the reaction is one off, it will then be one off for them too, wouldn't it be? But I have a strong feeling, they could start blackmailing the world with the "element of mass death" very soon.

You're kidding right mabudon?

You want to talk about "disproportionate"?

Look at the ridiculous violence over a cartoon image of Mohammed. In the Middle East Ol' Bin is a Saint. They portray him as the preverbial torn in America's side.

If the US captures or kills him, the backlash would be near catostrophic. To believe otherwise is tantamount to joining the last CDN liberal Government with their heads in the sand.

My most humblest appologies for my generalization. Let me clarify that. The Islamofascists will erupt in violence. And seeming as there is a "disproportionate" number of them waging jihad, in many nations, plotting the eventual Islamic enslavement of the human race, it may not be prudent to encite them?

Well, call me crazy, but I really can't see much reaction from Muslims at large no matter WHAT happens to "him", if "he" even exists at all, I have a feeling that the way the Western Media has portrayed UBL and how the Muslim Fundamentalists view "him" (and thus to what level of "reverence" they hold him) are two VERY different things- I don't think too many of the folks fighting the US occupation of Iraq, for example, could give 2 whits about Bin laden

And thanks for the clarification, as there's lots of Muslims in my neck of the woods and I didn't hear so much as a whispered "Death to America" so far this weekend

I don't hear alot of death to America from the Muslims I know either, but as much as I like them and call them friend. They have a rather slanted view of things in fact.

Infact they have tried to sway me with their propoganda of the events of 9/11. But on the other hand, they have opened the door to Islam to me. Teaching me about the real Islam. Not the boogeyman image.
