There have been lots of comparisons, most hotly dismissed by the president’s defenders, between Nixon and Obama, but in some ways the latest scandals have the potential to match or even trump those of 1973–4.
Nixon’s sins were primarily domestic; no one died. Benghazi goes to the heart of U.S. foreign policy, when an administration knowingly misled the United States, and stuck to a preelection campaign narrative that ensured a facility was endangered, help was not sent, Americans died, and a petty crook would be jailed to take the rap — while officials for weeks peddled an untruth. Unlike “Bush lied, thousands died,” the CIA did not give the president “slam dunk” information, supported by most agencies abroad and both Houses of Congress, but rather had its initial analyses massaged by the White House for overtly campaign purposes.

Looks to me like its one of the privileges of winning the election in the Great Republic.
As many have stated Nixon, (conservative Republican) did the same thing then there
was Bush Jr (Republican) did the same Clinton (Democrat) did the same thing.
What's the problem here? Obama, all of a sudden we are supposed to witness a
candidate for Saint Hood? With all the whining and protesting, for most of the votes
that matter it is a tempest in a tea pot(couldn't resist that). In fact some of the poor
are thinking its good to see someone other than the average guy being probed by
the IRS.
At election time, if the Democrats keep the lower classes as it were engaged in the
political process, the vote will be the same as the last two elections the reason is the
polarization promoted by the political right will be coming back to haunt them.
The IRS is part of the problem in the arena of power and would be used by the
Republicans, if and when they ever see the inside of the White House again.

The director of the Internal Revenue Service's Exempt Organizations division, Lois Lerner, is invoking the Fifth Amendment and will not appear before Congress to answer questions about the agency's targeting of Tea Party and other conservative groups.
Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee tomorrow to discuss the improper conduct of IRS employees who singled out conservative groups, and why she failed to bring that behavior to the attention of Congress.

No, the Democrats will keep the lower class; lower class to ensure victory. By giving the lower class free everything and more of it they will never work and never get out of where they are at. With out the 47% and climbing on public assistance there is no Democrat victory. So they instill fear in the taxpayer dependent class threatening that the GOP will take their "entitlements" and their free middle class lifestyle will be over.

The fact of the matter is the IRS targeted conservative groups. The fact of the matter it wasn't the big conservative groups, it was the average people. It was deliberate and an abuse of power by the Obama Administration.
It was done on purpose because the Democrat Party will do whatever it can to stay in power, legal and illegal.

According to the government's own investigation, applications containing terms such as Tea Party and Patriot were singled out for delays and holds even as groups with liberal-sounding names like "Bus for Progress" and "Progress Florida" sailed through the process.
President Obama said "the report's findings are intolerable and inexcusable" and even fired the acting head of the Internal Revenue Service.
Regardless of how this particular scandal shakes out, there's still going to be at least three good reasons to be scared as hell of the IRS.
1. It's always been a political weapon.
John F Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, and Richard Nixon all sicced the IRS on enemies and dissenters. And they were just following in the footsteps of Franklin Roosevelt, whose son said his father was "the originator of the concept of employing the IRS as a weapon of political retribution."
2. Its rulings are super-complicated and capricious.
The federal tax code is longer than Atlas Shrugged, Ulysses, and the Old Testament put together. It's so complicated that even former IRS commissioners need help preparing their returns.
3. It's Obamacare's enforcement mechanism.
Starting next year, the IRS will be the cop patrolling the Affordable Care Act's mandates, with the agency overseeing some 47 tax provisions related to Obamacare. You won't just be reporting income anymore. You'll be explaining when, where, and how you bought health care as well.

The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service.

Yesterday, both men were seen arriving at the West Wing for, presumably, a new iteration of White House talking points (hey, maybe Walsh was there, too). So we can all assume that President Obama wants Lois Lerner gone.
Why can't he fire her himself? Well, according to Politico,
It appears that no one has been formally reprimanded and a spokesperson for the union representing IRS workers said it hasn’t been called to help any employees yet. Most employees involved in the targeting program are covered by protections for federal workers that could drag out the termination process.
If you want "reforms," this would be a good place to start. Stuff like targeting citizens for their political beliefs should be a no-brainer.
Even so, Lerner seems pretty senior to qualify for routine civil service protections. Presumably, she could be asked for her resignation, just as Steven Miller was. So why is the President stalling, and instead sending pundits out to seek her scalp instead?
Really, when we learn (1) who -- if anyone -- notified an administration member about the internal IRS report before the election confirming the targeting ; and (2) who was involved in slow-walking the IG report until after the election, a lot of these questions may answer themselves.

Lerner on Thursday afternoon sent an e-mail to employees in the exempt organizations division she oversees stating, “Due to the events of recent days, I am on administrative leave starting today. An announcement will be made shortly informing you who will be acting while I am on administrative leave. I know all of you will continue to support EO’s mission during these difficult times.” She concluded, “I thank you for all your hard work and dedication,” adding, “The work you do is important.”
Next thing ya know she'll be suffering from 'exhaustion' or some other lame sh!t syndrome. :lol:
