Eric Holder Signed Off On Search Warrant For James Rosen Emails: NBC News



Attorney General Eric Holder personally signed off on the warrant that allowed the Justice Department to search Fox News reporter James Rosen's personal email, NBC News' Michael Isikoff reported Thursday.

The report places Holder at the center of one of the most controversial clashes between the press and the government in recent memory. The warrant he approved named Rosen as a "co-conspirator" in a leak investigation, causing many to warn that the Justice Department was potentially criminalizing journalism. The warrant also approved the tracking of Rosen's movements in and out of the State Department, as well as his communications with his source, Stephen Kim.

The Justice Department later said that it did not intend to press any charges against Rosen.

IRS Scandal: The inexplicable raid nearly two years ago on a guitar maker for using allegedly illegal wood that its competitors also used was another targeting by this administration of its political enemies.


On Aug. 24, 2011, federal agents executed four search warrants on Gibson Guitar Corp. facilities in Nashville and Memphis, Tenn., and seized several pallets of wood, electronic files and guitars. One of the top makers of acoustic and electric guitars, including the iconic Les Paul introduced in 1952, Gibson was accused of using wood illegally obtained in violation of the century-old Lacey Act, which outlaws trafficking in flora and fauna the harvesting of which had broken foreign laws.

I got into it once with a former acquaintance, a Canadian “moderate” blogger (that means “liberal”) whose winning smile and considerable personal charm endeared him to many of my fellow “conservatives.”

Being temperamentally immune to the charms of “charm,” I was slightly less smitten.

During one online exchange, he mocked George W. Bush’s baldfaced admission that he didn’t read the New York Times.

“Surely you know,” I responded, “that the President of the United States receives a morning briefing package that contains information the New York Times can only dream of getting its hands on?”

I don’t recall the blogger’s reply.

You see, we’re meant to be impressed by this:

Kennedy was sitting up in bed reading the morning papers at about 8:45 am on October 16, 1962 when McGeorge Bundy, his national security advisor, came in to inform him that the Soviet Union was secretly putting nuclear missiles in Cuba. Within two hours and forty-five minutes a special committee had been created, its members selected, contacted, brought to the White House, and were seated around the cabinet table to discuss what should be done.


Thank God JFK was no mere mortal man, out of bed at a decent time — say, 6 a.m. — otherwise he’d have been able to bring the world to the brink of annihilation a few house sooner.

In any event, I keep thinking of that exchange whenever I hear Obama’s “I read about it in the newspapers just like you did” “explanation” for his ignorance of this latest (that we know of) IRS mischief.

If the President is telling the truth, he’s a fool. (Your leader still wastes precious time perusing warmed-over “news” from dubious, biased sources?

If he’s lying, then… he’s lying.

CNN: Almost 90 IRS Employees Under Investigation For Targeting Conservatives…



That’s a lot of “rogue” employees.
Washington (CNN) – The Internal Revenue Service has told House GOP investigators they have identified 88 IRS employees who may have documents relevant to the congressional investigation into targeting of conservative groups, according to a congressional source familiar with the investigation.

The IRS asked these employees to preserve all the “responsive documents” on their computers, and it has been in the process of collecting it all to comply with congressional requests for information. The IRS missed its May 21st deadline to turn over documents to the House Ways and Means Committee.

The same source said the IRS argues it missed its deadline because of the scope of documents it is collecting.

The request for documents was a bipartisan one, but Republicans are privately preparing to seize on the fact that if nearly 90 IRS employees may have been somehow involved in this targeting, it is evidence that the controversy extends well beyond the mistakes by a few low level employees.

MSNBC’s Martin Bashir: ‘IRS’ Is the New ‘******’

The GOP is using the term “IRS” in place of the term “n****r,” MSNBC host Martin Bashir claimed on his Wednesday show.


“Republicans are using [the IRS scandal] as their latest weapon in the war against the black man in the White House,” he suggested. ”IRS” is the new “N****r.” Bashir gave a nod to the late Republican strategist Lee Atwater, to whom he attributed the subtle strategy.

IRS Agent 'Furious' with Lois Lerner for Scapegoating of 'Rogue Agents'



An IRS employee from the Cincinnati office who had been tasked with reviewing applications for tax-exempt status from Tea Party and conservative groups was furious that administration officials tried to blame the targeting on "rogue agents" in the office, calling the attacks a "nuclear strike on us."

According to transcripts Fox News obtained of interviews with Cincinnati office employees that House investigators conducted, agent Elizabeth Hofacre said the idea that rogue agents targeted conservaties "was absurd." She was "furious" that Lois Lerner, the head of the tax-exempt division who is now on administrative leave, tried to pin the blame on workers in the Cincinnati office.
Hofacre said she was "involved in the processing of these [applications] in 2010." She claimed "everybody that has been making those statements should know they are inaccurate."
"I just thought when Lois Lerner dropped that bomb shell, oh, it was Cincinnati's problem, she thought it would go away, but instead it exploded," she said.

Quick, someone make a Downfall parody video, "Hitler finds out about the Holocaust"...

 Hitler uses the Obama excuse: "I don't blame people for being outraged. I'm outraged too. I learned about this holocaust from the news reports, just like the rest of you."

One of the comments by C Stanley on the Althouse blog made this darkly humorous comment in the headline. Remember, there are no written orders from Hitler ordering the extermination of the Jews. Perhaps his supporters just assumed that's what he wanted done and went ahead on their own, like the IRS underlings in Cincinnati. Could it be that Hitler has been wrongly accused all this time? That he would have put a stop to it if he had only known?

Yeah, it all makes sense now. If only Hitler Obama had known.

IRS Caught On Tape Telling Pro-Life Group: “Keep Your Faith To Yourself”…



The IRS scandal is deepening as a new tape has been released today showing a disturbing phone call the Internal Revenue Service placed to a non-profit organization.


Alliance Defending Freedom, a pro-life legal group, made the audio available today of IRS officials telling a group that provides support to women in abusive pregnancy situations to keep its faith to itself. In the recorded phone conversation, an IRS agent lectures the president of the organization about forcing its religion and beliefs on others and inaccurately explains that the group must remain neutral on issues such as abortion.


ADF is providing legal representation for the group — which did not receive its tax-exempt status until last week after waiting nearly two and a half years after applying for it.
