It's probably got a lot to do with their weak dollar!

That's pretty much standard everywhere methinks. What the bastards don't tell you is they are mostly matching it with the interest they gleaned off your contributions for 35 years! Anyway they aren't fooling everybody. :) :) :)

How about you? Are you going to drive B.C. into insolvency?

... all by yourself?

Not really all that surprising some of those pension funds are pretty fat...........back in the 80s for a couple of years they were pulling in 21% or more interest.

This story is very difficult to believe. Their financial debacle certainly just didn't happen in one day. I would guess it happened over several decades if not an entire generation.

The government has been underfunding their portion for most of a century, so you're absolutely right.

I tend to agree but where does that leave all the whiners (like Cannuck and several others on here) who claim all us pensioners are skimming off the Gov't. Trough?

Huh! A sensible statement.................................finally! :) :)
Centuries ago, a Chinese emperor called a venerable philosopher to him, and said that he wanted the philosopher to produce a statement the emperor could make that would be true in all circumstances. The philosopher went off into the mountains to contemplate, and returned three months later. He went to the emperor, who asked "Do you have it? The statement that is true under all circumstances?"

"I do, your ReallyBigMotherF*ckerness" replied the philosopher.

"Well, what is it?" queried the emperor.

Quoth the philosopher "JLM wouldn't understand."

What we need to do is to drastically reduce taxes and increase spending and print money and raise the minimum wage and introduce protectionist laws and that will really get the economy hopping.
