The lower mainland (Vancouver/Surrey/etc) would have to break away and become a semi autonomous independent colony (like Hong Kong was) for a while before China takes it over….but Western Canada could work around it to the North. It won't work if Alberta tries to go it alone. It will work when it is the entire western half of the country. This would also end Ottawa's ban on drilling off the BC coast. We could easily be as rich as any OPEC country.
Yup no one needs the best harbour on the west coast . No need for that .The lower mainland (Vancouver/Surrey/etc) would have to break away and become a semi autonomous independent colony (like Hong Kong was) for a while before China takes it over….but Western Canada could work around it to the North.
…& to think America was nervous about having Cuba off its coast for so many decades…this would be a shit-show!!
I was alluding to political sentiments if you look at an electoral map of British Columbia.Yup no one needs the best harbour on the west coast . No need for that .
I was kind of hoping we could not invite the lower mainland and Victoria areas to our new country. The lower mainland (Vancouver/Surrey/etc) would have to break away and become a semi autonomous independent colony (like Hong Kong was) for a while before China takes it over….but Western Canada could work around it to the North.

Some of them sort of are. Somehow there are foreign companies in control of the operations. I never pursued it far enough to find out exactly how it works. Rio Tinto runs the Kitamat Port. Even has a customs office and secure area for freight.I'm surprised Trudeau hasn't pulled an America and sold them (harbours) off to China yet.
Unfortunate that the best port is controlled by the worst people. Pr. Rupert is a good port. There are other areas on the coast that could be developed for ports as well.Yup no one needs the best harbour on the west coast . No need for that .
That is a "free trade" thing with the US.Some of them sort of are. Somehow there are foreign companies in control of the operations. I never pursued it far enough to find out exactly how it works. Rio Tinto runs the Kitamat Port. Even has a customs office and secure area for freight.

Yes . Lots have that problem . My riding in Surrey is presently held by a PC .I was alluding to political sentiments if you look at an electoral map of British Columbia.
