Viva La Hugo Chavez.

Viva la Revolution for the poor.

Seriously though, the right-wing opposition and military tried to overthrow him. They failed, they are on trial, and if his country has the death penalty for treason and they are convicted, through a fair trial then they should because they overthrew the democratically elected leader.

Kind of funny how America and its supporters goes against Hugo Chavez when in the Phillipeans, same thing where the opposition and military tried to overthrow Arroyo, who is corrupt, has death squads going around and such and has almost been impeached for voter irregularities and not a peep from America.

Want to know why, because the opposition to Arroyo were socialists and communists.

And that is the simple fact.

Cuba would fall right into that category.

I'm sure Hugo finds comfort in the fact the left in Canada supports him just like the left in Canada supports (and vacations in) Cuba.

I vacation in Cuba. And a few people go out to Vacation on some island in Venezuela too. I forget nthe name though, its an island a few miles off the coast. My uncle loved it, might be going there this year instead of Cuba.

Ohh and, I prefer Cuba to gang runed, and corrupted Mexico.

Agreed.

And someone told me that if i want to go to Cuba any time soon, you should do it while Castro is in charge ince it will all go to hell in a hand basket when communism is through and America gets it way.

Well then we shouldn't be having this conversation becaue Hugo the weirdo should be, at the very least, in jail.

A career military officer, Chávez founded the leftist Fifth Republic Movement after a failed 1992 coup d'état.

And Chavez now seeks to formalize his control through the "Media Contents" law, a bill that controls TV programming by defining time slots suitable for children. The law assumes that children will be watching television for 18 hours a day and prohibits the broadcasting of news or any content with violent images or political language except between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. For example, live footage of Chavez militia members shooting at innocent protesters, would be content unsuitable for children.

I'll take the silence to mean Chavez isn't right and the leftist supporters of Hugo the weirdo have seen the error of their ways.

So if the US has the right to defend its interest, by whatever means, then venuzuela has the right to defend his interest whatever means, and since hugo/venezuela has support from the majority/poor in south america, and the whole world, i support totally what he does by whatever means.

I've been to cuba, and it is one of the most beautiful place in the world, too bad, us citizen arent allow to go there. quite crazy for a country that defend freedom, but don t let their citizen go whereever they want.

Maria-Corina Machado, opposition leader and mother of three, faces prison time for simply taking grant money from the National Endowment for Democracy, a program of the United States Congress.

"This is a country where anyone who dares to think and speak differently from the government,” said Machado, “is seen as an enemy."

Machado's group Sumate used the money to educate citizens in democracy. But the Chavez government accused Machado of plotting with the U.S. to overthrow it.

Machado commented, "I have three kids and I tell my kids that their mom could go to jail because of conspiracy, treason to my country, rebellion. These are the kinds of charges put against us."

Opposition figure Enrique Capriles has already spent four months in jail. He told CBN News that he was only released because the street protests over his jail sentence had become an embarrassment to the government.

And at the TV channel Globovision, TV talk show host Leopoldo Castillo has had to learn to keep his acid tongue in check. There is a new censorship law against insulting President Chavez.

Castillo remarked, "David Letterman, every day, in tonight's show, he makes fun of President Bush. Nothing happens. Here, with a new law, if you make fun of the president, of the senior officer of the Supreme Court, of any minister, you can go to jail.”

These ARE opposition leaders. I have no patience with the "dictatorship of the proletariat", as it inevitably ends up with a bloodbath.

NED is an offshoot of the CIA.

with a dressed up name. They also give a million dollars a year to the crooked businessmen who want to unseat Chavez. There is honour in this?
