You'd rather have more taxes than better management of what you were already paying in taxes?

BTW allwayzalleywayz...the FED's money is MY money and it's about damn time BC got it's ass off inter-provincial welfare. You pay road taxes with your PST and your municipal taxes. If you want me to pay for your potholes you can forget it.

Lower taxes would be great, but we already took money from the federal government on the requirement that we implement the HST. That was the deal. And for that reason, I think we should have to suffer the consequences of what our government agreed to.

If you want me to pay for your potholes you can forget it.

But we got a lot of potholes. And BTW petros, BC supplies your province with high grade pot - you owe us. ;)

Why does taking money from from the rest of Canada and not paying it back bother you? BC is Western Canada's version of Quebec. A place to toss lots and lots of money for no apparent reason other than whining and political pimping.

I was just kicking your dish. Sheesh! ;)
That myth needs to come to an end.

It bothers me because I believe in a little something called "principles". It's because I believe in the true sense of right and wrong.

So what's your point? Why should we dump lots of money into your province? What does Saskatchewan have to offer?

Now that the Provincial government will reduce the HST to 10% from 12%, it only makes logical sense to keep it. If we choose to scrap the HST, then the GST/PST tax will remain at 12%.

Since it will now save you money as a consumer to keep the HST, how can anyone now vote to scrap it?

Keep the HST.

It is most likely that the Libs will not be the party in power come the fall so their promises don't mean much. They lied to us over it and it should be voted down in protest against further use of such underhanded deceitful tactics. If the budget is such that Clark can offer a 2% reduction in sales taxes then it should be done regardless of whether the referendum passes or fails. This is an obvious attempt to gain support for their deceitful ploy and gain some votes in the upcoming election but using it as a threat to my wallet will not get my support.

I'm strictly going by the numbers here. We could end up paying less tax than we do now. But the first step would be to vote to keep the HST.

I'm not sure that I will vote either way........it's just another charade that will cost us even more money. Probably better just to keep it now it's here and hope they aren't lying about reducing it and let the low income people get their cheques. The Gov't. gets whatever money they want, if not by one means then another. Apparently we are being taxed more for gasoline than any other province. May be wiser to hold Christie's tootsies to the fire on that one?

I don't know man. The plan is to phase it in by 2014. I am sure by that time they will either make an excuse why they can't or move that burden elsewhere in the system. They lied about it, instituted it behind our backs, and now are making promises I don't think they can or will keep in order to try to keep it. I am tired of people letting the govt get away with crap like this. Don't be fooled by their propaganda and false promises.

I want to say that as a farmer I do benefit from the HST as a consumer I am not so happy.
The real reason I will not be voting in favor is because of the lies and deceit that brought
this tax change. My wife and I will vote against, we have 7 children who are voting against
it and three grand kids that get a vote for the first time, they all work and they too are mad as
hell, and won't support it. The biggest problem I have is that this is a tax shift from the
business community and it puts the burden on the backs of consumers.
In addition the tax is also put on a whole lot of things that were not previously subject to the
same tax regulations. I have the feeling the government is desperate, as they are reducing
the percentage and giving some groups rebates and promoting the tax like crazy. The
other thing that bothers me is this, companies that stand to gain the most are directly including
the pro HST position in their advertising. I believe this could possibly be a conflict of interest.
This is an referendum and these people are going to financially benefit, therefore to actually
include the references in a position that will financially benefit them directly from a government
decision I question the ethics of it.
I do believe it may pass in the end, in a come from behind position, I also believe the Government
will lose the next election. In addition to the current problems they are a third term government
with few game changing ideas and the BC Conservatives will also be running on the ballot.
It is bad enough that even the Conservative Stockwell Day is supporting the Provincial Liberals
this time.

I can well understand and agree with the sentiment, but IF I vote it will be for the way that I think will cost me the least money. You DON'T want to "cut off your nose to spite your face"

If you vote for me I'll scrap the HST and reduce PST to 2% (in 2029).
