Really, why should God pay any attention to human beings? I am sure he has bigger fish to fry (even if he exists).
Look at you all! God makes you talk.

Prayer is to ease the mind of the prayee. It really has nothing to do with god. It is a psychological Linus' blanket.

Maybe God makes YOU talk. Evolution makes me talk.

Good idea. Dumping other people's influences on you is a start.I have a better solution, disconnect from the mortals' (right from Moses to Oral Roberts) interpretations of religious matters.
Exactly, but you sure like to interrupt the flow of the chat.I'm not the topic

Having no dogma to follow other than the "do unto others as you'd have them do unto you" idea means you aren't constantly relating things back to that dogma. One simply get into the habit of being nice. At least that's unless one thinks one is a god (I can do no wrong) or deliberately like hurting people.
Being disconnected from religious dogma helps because it is one less bias to interfere when one is trying to be objective. There are other biases, though, which direct thoughts, sometimes in errant ways.
So? That behavior is not the norm. I imagine there are other ones that are aberrant in varying degrees from the "golden" rule, too, sodomy for one. What's your point? If being disconnected from God is being masochistic then the Golden rule takes a strange twist.
Not sure how you jumped to that conclusion. Disconnecting from dogma doesn't mean disconnecting from god (an impossibility). IMO it is exactly the opposite to masochism. If being disconnected from God is being masochistic then the Golden rule takes a strange twist.

Don't you wish you could make their kinda money slinging BS the way they do?Now, now, Cliff, Oral and Jimmy aren't going to like that.
