Why on earth would it be a bad thing to meet someone on the internet??? You don't pre-judge people by looks, you're usually not clouded by alcohol as you might be in a bar, you're in private if u wish to be and not if you dont, there's no pressure on either side. Personally i think it's the best place to meet friends and lovers and wives.
Did you ever use thespark.com? It had a bunch of silly tests...
Never heard of the site, but that sounds similar to tickle.com with the silly tests.
Heard there is also a site with an online community with a function where you can set-up whom you're having a crush on at that time and if the same person is putting your name as the person s/he fancies, then both will be sent a notification that the 2 fancy one another.
Still, you're probably one of the lucky ones to meet a good match.
Plus there are more dodgy blokes than dodgy women out there on the internet. I got tired of random chats on either MSN/Yahoo messenger even Skype recently too, that would be just a waste of time the way I see it, and I don't have that much actually! Now I don't get online in these things unless I do need to talk to friends who have IDs in these things.
But you were right Hermann I reckon about the internet is the space to connect people around the world and it's not impossible to make friends using it either. I was active in a forum in Japan and Singapore when I was there and got to meet wonderful people I still keep in touch even though am in Europe now. But certainly to make "making friends online" works, one needs to meet the other people offline too, I'd say.
Plus, speaking of dodgy people, there are dodgy people also in bars/pubs/clubs where the socialising scenes take place heaps especially here in Dublin. Seems that's the main place where people go to meet new people or well to hook up. So yeah I wouldn't say using internet to meet people is a silly thing at all, just have to be cautious, just like what we've been doing when meeting strangers in pubs/clubs.
