As much as I am on the fence about polygamy in general, in this kind of case I am glad of the conviction. When kids are likely involved, polygamy is just an excuse to 'marry' and rape kids. IMO it's more the religion than the polygamous act really that is the issue, but you get them where you can get them.
As for gay people, wtf does that have to do with polygamy? If they're adults in a relationship, it's the furthest thing from polygamy.
And besides, it depends on what you mean by marriage - the social contract/construct or the religious definition, and then which religion you're talking about because not all religions see or have seen gay marriages as wrong/evil.
So do we just legalize it without any limitations or do we at restrict it to at least some degree, be it number of spouses (as is common in all Muslim states for example), allowing the marriage contract to enjoin monogamy (as is common in most marriage contracts in Iran and some other Muslim states), or prohibiting the contracting of a polygamous marriage within our jurisdiction but still acknowledging polygamous marriages that are legally contracted and consummated abroad (as is the case in Tunisia), or something else? Or do we just open the floodgates?
What the f*ck are you on about? I said that if you don't want people to have sex with kids, seems the best way to do that is to make it illegal to have sex with kids. Justifying outlawing polygamy by saying it prevents child molestation is like justifying outlawing gay marriage by saying it prevents homosexuality.
I wasn't referring to that. I recognize that polygamy and child molestation are two separate matters. I'm not the one who was confounding the two.
But even between consenting adults, what would be the demographic impact of men marrying multiple wives on a large scale for example.
