do you think it was actually seven days? sanctus said somewhere that was just a myth and that evolution worked with creation, or something like that. i probably got what he meant wrong maybe?
Not literal 7-days.Not a Mysth either but a real story of creation.
God wants us to know about how He created the world and us.
If you studied the bible you will find that numbers in the bible are key in understanding it.
6 days He created, and the 7th day He rested.
The 6 days could have been billions of years and not 6,000 years as believed by many Christians.
The whole point of the story was/is to let us in on His designed works.
He has purposely hidden Himself so that we should seek Him out.
Discovering Him has in it many blessings.
The number 7 is key in understanding the book of Revelation.

Numbers are interwoven throughout the bible as important key points.
Take for instance the number of fish counted when Jesus asked Peter to count them?
153 was the number.
If one squares each number, adds the results, squares again and adding the results, will in arrive at this number 888 after 7 times.
Gematria is a number letter combination that in the Jewish alphabet, the number letter combination of the name of Jesus is 888. Interesting?

It was obviously not a literal 7 day period as we know it. The two creation accounts in Genesis are metaphors of creation. And they are never to be understood as literal accounts of the creation of the world. Notice the tale involves an evolutionary concept, stages of development. the point of the story wasn't the how, but the who, as it were. In other words the point is that God caused the creation of the universe.
As I said, sharing not browbeating. No, I am afraid that part of the Great Commission is the spreading of the Gospel. Lots of people share their faith in evangelization methods, from the saffron robed chaps at airports to the JW's coming to the door. Personally, I believe the most effective means of evangelization is through example.
I must say my friend, in the past two days you have surprised me. First with your contention that all faiths are equal in merit and now with this numerology mumbo-jumbo. I think the Scriptures are difficult enough for people to discern without adding these secret codes into them. Numbers do play a significance into certain elements of the Scriptures, to a point But drawing conclusions based on combinations of numbers from anything is suspicious exegesis at best.
His teachings may very well state this, but thankfully I am fairly certain that the Christians in this thread are not Buddhists, and non-believers in the Gospel are more than likely non-believers in any religious path, Buddha or otherwise

Without Church guidance, one can find anything one wants to in the Bible. That is why self-interpretation is ill advised, to say the least!
Also always remember that the "7" day, the "Sabbath" is the day you rests your minds from the daily routine and listen to the Prophets, not just the one "Prophet", but the Prophets around you...
How do we know they're a true Prophet, they'll know, and they'll understand the "Prophet's" words and be able to make sense out of them. God will show them the way...
Because the Roman Catholic Church has more money invested in real estate and buildings to say nothing of ornamentation and idonology than anyone...someone's got to pay for all that glitter...we can't feed the hungry clothe the naked or minister to the ill before we build anohter golden cathedral to our hubris...

Not the Bhudda, but rather his teachings, ie the several different paths that lead to God, the process of Right Living, Right Livelihood, etc...Seeking the Middle Way...

Christ and the Bible expands on the teachings of the first book and basically covers it, if you were born and living in the Middle east at the time of its conception, as the first book teachings would have been mainstream....
