Darn! Missed today's NHL playoff as I attended our local high school's last game of the season. I have seen several of the kids as they grew up and it was an important game for the neighborhood. Sadly we lost due to lousy coaching but it was fun overall.

Will try to catch highlights of today's puck on youtube.

Maybe I'll start paying a little more attention to the Rangers now. I just found out today that Dominic Moore is my niece's husband's cousin, but I think my chances of getting rich because of it is rather slim. -:) Don't know how I'll handle it having never been connected to fame before. -:)

so then you know that he is the brother of 'steve moore' same guy that bertuzzi sucker punched to start all
of the law suits that are still not solved to this day.
and dominic moore took a lot of time off last season due to his wife's terminal cancer, he stayed home
to care for her till her death, so he has had a tough time and has played very well this season for
the rangers, and is doing very well in the plaYoffs.

the whole rangers team will attend 'st louie's wife's funeral' tomorrow', what an emotional rollercoaster
they have been on for the last week or so.

vineault over the past few years has had his share, as a coach, of tragedies on his hockey teams.

theyoung defenseman who was killed on his motorcycle a few years back, then the player who committed
suicide, forgot both of their names, and now st. louie's situation, each time he has been there as a
strong support person, a very steady influence for his teams through their emotional turmoils.

When the Habs beat Boston in that epic 1979 series they lost game 1 to the Rangers then won 4 straight. Not to say it will happen again but the Canadiens/bruins series are such a high it might take a game to get back to normal.

I was thinking something similar myself, Kreskin. I expect to see them back in form for the game 2 though I agree with talloola that this is a different match-up then the Habs vs Bruins.

I think the old theory if A can beat B and B can beat C, then A can beat C doesn't necessarily work in hockey. -:)

No, I knew none of this. I just asked my brother (he lives near Montreal) in an email yesterday if he was watching the game and he just said on and off but his son in law was because Dominic was his cousin. I did briefly wonder if there was a connection to Steve but dismissed is as Moore is such a common name. Small world!

I just googled Dominic Moore, very sad story about his wife's terminal illness and her positive attitude during the illness. It just doesn't get any sadder than that!

yes, very sad , i've thought often this season, when i see him play, just how tough that year must
have been for he and his wife, life can deal low blows.

i'm definitely pulling for the hawks in this series, i like their offensive talent better than l.a.,
and the game was a good one, excellent defensive play on both teams, and excellent goal keeping,
but the chicago offense won the day, 3-1, final score.
the kopitar/gaborik line had some good chances to score, but it didn't happen, toews played his
usual fantastic self, and along with kane and hossa and others, and duncan keith, and company
on defense, l.a. couldn't get ahead at any time.

What's your best guess for the Cup?

that is so hard to predict, but if l.a. get by chicago, it is a toss up in my opinion
that they beat either montreal or new york, but

if chicago get past l.a., i think they will beat either new york or montreal, but

again, so much depends on how good the goalies play, and so far crawford for chicago
has played lights out,

but price, quick and lunquist can do the same, so no solid prediction for me, it all has
to play out.

right now everyone for and in montreal are whining about the price hit from kreider,
but they better focus on the 'real' problem for montreal, and that is that they
played horrible, and were not ready, so, get ready.

tomorrow montreal has to come out and match rangers or play better than them, so lets see how
that one goes first.

at this stage of the game, all the teams have a chance, and they are all excellent, so however
it plays out, doesn't mean that the teams who lose in simi finals are not very good, and same
goes for the cup finals, they all came a long way, and deserve lots of respect, so whatever the
media says after each semi final and after the cup final, means NOTHING.

Yeah, I hadn't paid much attention to the Rangers of late, but I found the Rangers to be a real eye opener, before the game I was wondering if it might be Montreal in 4, but I changed that notion in a hurry. I think it might boil down to who's the hungriest.-:)

well looks like price is out for the remainder of this series, so habs will have budaj (sp?), in the
nets. he is a very good goalie, played very well for them after the olympics when price was
injured for 2 or 3 weeks.

thats just the way it goes, minnesota had to play all of the chicago series with bryzgaloff (sp?), and
he did just fine , they were very close to winning that series, as their number one at the time, kemper,
was injured, and their real number one, harding was battling his ms illness, and still is., so life
goes on, hope the montreal fans and media and the rest of their organization don't have a serious
case of depression, and can actually carry on, cause the air waves have nothing on them for the past
3 days but the condition of price, it seems the world has stopped because of this, and it is quite
comical. they blamed budaj for letting in 3 goals when he came in to play, but price had allready
let in 4, but that wasn't even mentioned, and the team had allready played a tragic game, but now
i guess the fans will boo kreider, guess they needed someone to boo, so there you go, you've got
your enemy, so go for it. wathed replays of kreider/price collision showed kreider
going full speed 'with the puck' to score a goal, that is all he had on his mind.
he wasn't intending on hitting price, he wanted to score, when a player is carrying
the puck and going in to score a goal, the last thing they have on their mind
is running the goalie, they are trying to get the puck past him.
looking forward to the game at 5, should be a good one today, i hope both goalies play great.

I guess that slims their chances a lot. From what I saw (everything happens too fast for us old codgers to follow) Price got plowed pretty good.

his leg was hit, that is the injury, he was hit from a player sliding on his back feet first, so the
bottom part of price's leg was hit by the feet of the sliding kreider, flipped price over, but as
far as the rest of his body, none of it was hit at all.

its pretty easy to follow on a replay, i just want to keep it clear in my mind when all the exaggerations
are thrown at us over and over, i like to remember it as it really happened.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
note: budaj not playing, guessing spelling of sakarsky ?????, but anyway, however it is spelled,
he is playing goal for habs.

oh thanks for the correct spelling, tokarski, must remember that, hope he does well.

the young fellow who played for anaheim, and started with a couple of great games finally
did struggle next game, and had to be pulled, just 20 years old, asking a lot in a play-off
where the teams are so ramped up.

Oh dear, my heart really goes out to that young goalie tonight. I really can't understand why they didn't put Budaj in the net tonight. I can't imagine the pressure on Tokarski. Game 2, down 1 and the next one is in MSGardens. Sheesh. It's going to be real tough going into NY down 2 games. Be interesting to see who ends up in net for that one. I hardly blame the kid for the loss as the Rangers were very sharp and the King was no slouch either.
