I realize Schneider played tonight, however Luongo has really become impressive again. He's playing like he did the first couple of years here. Having said that, every time I give him a compliment he reverts back to a sieve, so please accept my apologies in advance if it happens once again.

I just go with the flow, when he is bad, I trash him, and when he is good I praise him, that works
for me. lol

yeah, he could fold any day now, BUT we have the hidden treasure with the red hair.

Pointy hats and fires?

uh huh

Is there any way Schneider is going to last past the trade deadline? I have a feeling that roughly 29 teams
are going to make an offer for his services. It wasn't the Sedins or any of the top shooters who won the
game last night, it was the back-up goalie, who stopped thirty shots.

My guess is he stays until the summer. Unless they can land a heavy duty top-four defenseman.

Yes and No- that was one game (under trying circumstances) Goalies can prevent the team from losing games but they can't win games. Unless the management is absolutely crazy, Schneider will NOT be traded, sold or otherwise disposed of. With all the competition today and long playoff season, I'd say two good goalies are a first prerequisite to winning a Stanley Cup. As far as scoring goes it's a feather in the Canuck's cap that "lesser lights" can score, but that doesn't mean that the Sedins, Burrows, Kesler etc. didn't contribute. A couple of days ago I thought perhaps Rome should be traded by the deadline, but I've changed my mind somewhat- he played well in both of the last games.

That is just semantics. A goalie can certainly lose a game, so it follows that a goaltender can win by not losing.....I thought Canuck
management was crazy to give Luongo the contract they did, so they are not perfect. If they are offered a top four defenseman and a
first round draft choice......who knows

Yep, Lu's contract was the dumbest move of the century- not sure what "a top four defenseman" is, but I certainly don't think Schneider should be traded for one.

I'm not sure myself. I'm guessing that if we picked the best four defensmen in the league......a "top four defenseman" would be one of them.
I'm sure Talloola would probably know.

For sure, Tallloola probably invented the term.:lol:

lol

a top four defenseman is a player who plays on one of the top two lines.

I don't think schneider is going anywhere either, and i'm sure gillis isn't planning to trade him
by monday, BUT as he says, IF a deal ever comes along that would make the team BETTER, he would
have to look at it, and that is speaking in general, not just concerning schneider, so I'm sure
he has had many inquiries from teams wishing to acquire schneider allready.

yeah he did keep them in the game, but the coaches knew what that game would be like, they had to sit
on the plane in detroit for hours because of weather conditions right after 'that' game, and they
didn't get into jersey until about 3 in the morning, so the writing was on the wall concerning how
the jersey game would go, there is no way canucks would have had the endurance to play 'their' game,
so strategy of how to play the game had to change.

Schneider knew what he had to do, he was ready for the onslaught, he was up for it, he was king of
the ice last night, and he also gathered more suiters for his services, I can just imagine how many
teams have contacted gillis about him now.

They got thru the first period just fine, and scored a couple of goals, then the plan is to save
themselves so they can last the game without totally being overtaken by jersey, it worked.

I'm sure jersey today is very frustrated, as they knew canucks were there for the taking, and they
couldn't do it.

With every game he plays, I am becoming more convinced that the change in strategy from keeping Lu close to the net, to letting him play the puck more aggressively now, has been the ticket to Lu's resurgence - could be wrong but he sure looks happy and more settled now.

True, Cory helped them win, but then he was 'fresh' while they were pretty tuckered out so I give the entire team their due and just rewards - another win and top spot in the conference. Where are all the boo-birds now???

That just shows me the true strength and belief the team has right now, talloola. They may have been there for the taking in the eyes of the Devils but in their own hearts they knew they could get through the game with a little help from Cory.

I think given Schneider's age and recent performance he has the potential of being at least 90% as good as Lu and I'd be quite happy to see him playing 40% of the time to improve his ability and probably his attitude. To trade this "gold mine" would be absolutely insane- just think how much more he would be worth if he were to participate in winning a Stanley Cup. J.M.H.O.

He will be traded, but when is the question, he needs his own team, he's not a real back up, he will
be someone's starting goalie for years, and make much more money.

Unless something incredible comes out of the woodwork he will likely get traded this summer.

My first thought about the game today in Dallas was "It should be a cinch", now I'm not too sure- the past two games were won partly on adrenalin, by now they've probably lost that and two days probably isn't enough to mend sore joints and muscles, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one. Go Canucks go.
