I don't either, JLM, feel bad about the loss, that is. Thought they played a pretty solid game all in all. Just wish they could get the job done in regular time as it makes for some late nights with all this OT. Renni is simply outstanding in goal and I sure hope the Cannucks can find a way to beat him - he is their main sticking point, IMHO. The Preds played a better game but are still beatable.

GO, CANNUCKS, GO!

Canucks didn't play with enough emotion, not enough hits and not enough shots on goal (mind you shooting straight at Renni doesn't work) they have to move the puck laterally across the goal mouth and passing it quickly to a player who is ready to slip it in from the side.

Boy are you right about that, JLM. One might think that Renni is prescient they way he is ready for every shot, every time.

I was blown away 'at times' at how physical the game was, and how the officials did not give out
penalties, let those two teams whale away on each other big time.

Its kind of difficult to prepare just how to score the perfect goal, when you have the opposition
hanging all over you, one cannot just set oneself up and say 'there' this is where I should shoot
from, everything happens in mini seconds, everything is so spontanious, the other teams wants to
do what they want to do as well.

Nashville definitely outplayed vancouver in the 3rd, a huge push-back to tie the score, but the
goal never should have gone in, it was very soft, and unlucky for the rest of the team who were
battling hard, but thems the breaks, that is what the games is all about, the unexpected at any
time.

I have 'always' said, and I will 'say' again, at the end of the regular season, the canucks had
earned and deserved the presidents cup, BUT when the playoffs start, ANY team can win, it is a
short season, things happen, doesn't matter any more who finished 'where' in the regular season,
one thru eight, they are all on an equal playing field.
Just because they are presidents' cup champs, doesn't have anything to do with
becoming stanley cup winners, it doesn't happen like that very much at all.
I'm very glad they got rid of chicago, that was important to them because of
their history with that team, and they didn't want to drag that around with them
any longer.

the san jose/detroit series is the same, don't have a clue who should or who will win, could be
either one, first game went into overtime, and silly goal won the game for san jose, a simple shot
that any goalie would have stopped, but it hit the leg of the detroit defenceman, and bounced in
the goal, what are the odds of that, one could try to do that a thousand times and would not get
it just right, but it happens, and happened then.

whatever team wins the playoffs will be dubbed the best team of all of this season, but they will
really be just the best team of the playoffs.

it is a tough go, a short battle, very gruelling indeed, they all want it so bad, it's fun and
frustrating all at the same time.

IF canucks get thru this series successfully, then I hope it is san jose who win their, then the
travel will be just up and down the coast, easier on the teams than travelling east west back and
forth.

GO CANUCKS GO

I thought they would have learned more from the Chicago round. You have to be up by two goals in the playoffs to be fairly safe.

if it wasn't for renne, they could have been up by many more than that, in the first game and
the second, and if it wasn't for luongo nashville could have scored more as well, this is
a goalie struggle, by two very fine goalies, and at this moment renne has the upper hand.

The Sedins have to do more-much more-their effort to date has been underwhelming.

Also Samuelsson seems to have lost the ability to the handle the puck his hands have turned-if not to stone-then something relatively unmalleable.

yes, they physically can't seem to 'quite' keep up to the battle, and if canucks do not make it thru
this series with success, then I would suggest that next season, our number one line is different,
(actually it is now, in this series), and gillis and vineault settle the sedins in on a #2 or #3 line,
so that the team can still be successful during the regular season, but have one more line that can
battle in the war called the 'playoffs', as I do see that they are trying harder now, don't look quite
as bad as they did against chicago, but they aren't physically tough, and don't skate that great,
you can only get as much from players as they have got to give.

They went thru this type of performance on and off thruought the season too, seemed to seize up,
and look slow, then they would come alive again, probably because of whatever teams canucks were
playing, the close checking, (like nashville) will stop them every time, and in the chicago series,
they seemed to be 'so tight' and 'worried' that they couldn't get going.

It is apparant that burrows, kesler and raymond look great together, and shouldn't be apart ever
again.
Samuelsson is either at the end of his time, or he is injured, as he missed quite a few games on
and off this season, so perhaps he has something bothering him and will have it 'fixed' after the
playoffs are over. He is struggling.

Maybe there is a silver lining, other "big teams" seem to be having their share of problems too- all we have to do from now on is win more than we lose.

detroit and san jose are both big teams, now san jose is up 2 games to zip. first game, over time
fluky goal, second game 2-1 in regulation.
San jose was ahead of detroit in regular season points.

washington is down 2 games to zip against tampa bay, but they were pretty close for most of the
season, in the same division, washington won the division, but only in the latter part of the
season.

boston is up one game to zip against philly, two fairly evenly matched teams, but philly was
ahead of boston in standings, but philly didn't play well at all toward end of season.

canucks are really the only 'so called' big team, as they were far ahead of everyone
else at the end of regular season.

In other Canuck related News------ those idiot/asshole green men are about to get the boot and I for one couldn't be happier

It's all about respect and those two should to be barred from games because of their bush league antics.

I heard that they were told 'not' to touch the glass of the penalty box, have they now been told
more?

I don't mind them once in a while, and just for a little while at a time, but not every game, they
become rather boring and silly, and those suits are a bit obscene looking, shouldn't they be riding
their bikes or something, with those outfits on? lol

QUOTE]

It is quite noticeable that canucks power play is not scoring, and also they are not 'getting' many
power plays, which was one of their big strengths, and also how the sedins scored many of their points,
as they can move and wheel around on the power play without very much physical contact, well that is
gone now, no power plays, and the sedins sit on the bench while canucks are killing penalties.

It also doesn't help when the officials have put their whistles in their pockets, and all of those
little hooking and holding infractions are not called, as well as other heavier type illegal hits,
but that goes for both teams, but may be more detremental for the canucks, as their power play
has been much of their bread and butter.

The scoring has definitely dried up, without the sedins and kesler scoring that leaves it to burrows,
who is, and whomever else can chip in, and nothing coming from the points either.

I'm sure vineault and his crew are doing all they can to help, but they can't go on the ice, they
can't do it for the guys, they have to figure it out.
As well as Kesler is playing, he still isn't scoring, BUT against this goalie, and even luongo, its
not easy to put the puck in the net.

I noticed last night that the officials in Washington seemed to have decided that it's okay to high stick St Louis in the face.

Tonight should be interesting, though. I notice that Chara is really uncomfortable with any hard hits - I think his hit on Pachiorety (sp?) has gone to his head, and really affected him. I wouldn't mind if he got his checking game back any time Pronger was around.

yes, some of the infractions that are let go, for all teams are ridiculous, then
they will call some silly little thing they could have ignored.

in the last game with montreal I noticed chara really wince, when someone hit him into the boards, (not
a very hard hit), and it seemed to me that he is carrying around an injury of some sort.

well it looks like my wishes are not coming true, as burrows has been put back on the twins
line in practice, and will play there tomorrow.

I guess they just don't know what to do about the them, and figure burrows is the the best chance
to get them going, personally I don't think that way, and I think they will take away burrows
chances, by putting him back there, we'll see, hope i'm wrong.

Perhaps they have something up their sleeve, (but what!!!!!). lol

Higgins will be back with kesler and raymond.

GO CANUCKS GO

philly is ahead 2-0 over boston, first period. they were embarrassed last game, want to turn that
around, philly had goalie problems in first game.

boston just scored - 2-1 now.

boston just scored - 2-2 now, still first period.

1 - 1 after two and the Preds have yet to get a single shot on goal. The only goal for the Cannucks came in the first period and Ryan Kesler was finally the beneficiary - good on Ryan.

Nothing to do with the game but I couldn't help thinking that Jack Layton would feel right at home in the Nashville stadium tonight.

Higgins just scored on a delayed penalty call. 2 -1 Cannucks just into the 3rd.

Oh, oh the Preds just scored with less than 4 mins left in the 3rd. 2 - 2

The game is going to OT.

So far the OT is almost more exciting than the game. No penalties yet with just under 17 mins to go.

Someone is going to have to kidnap Rinne - he is just way too formidable. 42 shots by the Cannucks so far and only two goals.

YES! Shea Webber just drew a penalty and the Cannucks are on a PP with 9 mins left in the first ( and I sincerely hope last) OT. And just as I wrote that - lo and behold - the Cannucks SCORE!

YEE HAW! Samuelson gets the goal and the Cannucks win the game 3 - 2 to take the series 2 - 1! I am so happy for Ryan Kesler - he was stand-out tonight!

yes, this was canucks game, and if the overtime goal had gone to nashville it would have been
cruel.

canucks played well, very frustrating playing this team, just grind grind all the time.

kesler was awsome, and higgins had a great game too, that line was rockin and rollin.

luongo played well, made some key saves that kept the game in canucks hands.

canucks are the better team in this series, but playing this nashville team, that doesn't mean
too much, but if they keep battling and showing their superior talent, it should pay off.

I remember when the old canucks teams had to play like nashville, as they did not have the
offense of the others teams, but good coaches can teach good defense and make a team very
hard to beat, but the games are frustrating and have no flow, but for teams like this the
bottom line is 'win', and they don't care how, just win, then if the team has a goalkeeper
like renne, it is even harder.

nashville are complaining about the penalty in overtime, saying kesler was holding
the stick between his arm and body, which is done ALL THE TIME, my reply to that
complaint is "why was his stick there in the first place", that is the hooking area.
stick should be down.

OOPS! Was so excited that I heard Samuelson before I heard Kesler. My bad, it was Kesler with the goal and Samuelson I guess got the assist. Should listen better, eh? Ah well, Cannucks won and that is what is important.
