I sure hope Vancouver has an escape clause with Luongo because he is not the goalie that they signed a few years ago. In the early days Luongo used to let in the odd easy goal but more often that not, he would come back and steal the game with his brilliant play. It is that "brilliant play", that is for the most part missing. Talloola has been very patient with me because I wanted to dump Luongo some time ago and Tall was Luongo's most consistant supporter.

I'll come back to Luongo if he wins the next three games and brings home the Stanley Cup. Hell, I'd be satisfied if he won the next three games and played in the Stanley Cup final.

Just to get one more thing off my chest, Could somebody stop Burrows from diving all over the ice? Burrow's diving is probably causing us to take penalties, penalties we can't seem to handle.

I still have hopes for the Canucks this season, acknowledging there may be one or two brighter minds than mine out there. I think Luongo had potential when they signed the contract, but what kind of idiot signs for $64 million- nothing in the world is worth much more than that. Hopefully "Canadian Currency" was not stipulated and Monopoly money can be substituted.

Just to get one more thing off my chest, Could somebody stop Burrows from diving all over the ice? Burrow's diving is probably causing us to take penalties, penalties we can't seem to handle.

If you watch Burrows closely most of his falls to the ice
are just that, falls, when he has to really extend himself
with his skating, he shows his weakness in the game, and
that is his 'skating', he has always fallen too much, and
sure maybe some of it is diving, but the majority is just
clumsiness, as he can't stay on his feet when he is having
to turn quickly when going fast, especially on the boards.

He hasn't taken many penalties in the playoffs.

As far as Luongo goes, I just like to keep in the middle
when giving an opinion about him, as, when he is really
good, I don't get too high, and when he stumbles and doesn't
play that well, I don't like to get down on him too much.

Last night he certainly wasn't the only one who wasn't
playing their best, and I don't want him to have to save
games, I used to hate it when we had poorer teams, and our
goalies would often win the game for us, like anderson has
been doing for colorado, and that is not my idea of enjoyable hockey.

If he continues to fumble and stumble till the end of the
playoffs, don't know what to say about him then, it's a
head scratcher.

We will just have to wait till next season to see if he comes
out much better, and if he continues with this less than
stellar goalkeeping, then the management has a big problem,
as they have him signed to a long term contract, and Gillis
will have to figure that out. I'm glad we still have Schneider, as he will be on the team next year as luongo's
back-up, a very young and talented goalie, and if he has
to go in to replace luongo, he can get more and more ice
time, and eventually become the full-time goalie, so it's
not all that bad for the team, just for the bottom line.

I don't know of any escape clause, other than continuous
poor play, and that would speak for itself, even from
Luongo's perspective, because he won't be happy either if
he continues to play at the level he is right now.

Yeah, and I will be happy if he stays sharp enough to win
this round, because it has become shaky, although if we
can grind out one more win, then it will be all tied up,
then it is best out of 3, with home ice advantage again.

Just want to add,(and this is looking way ahead), if gillis
has to get very bold concerning Luongo, and even if he came to
a point where he had to trade him somehow, it is not 'his' mistake
as it was Nonis who brought luongo here to begin with.

Juan, I'm glad I have more patience with Luongo than you,
and others around here, he needs me, or else all of you
would have rounded up the posse and he would be hanging
high long ago.

lol lol

The guy in goal for Colorado (don't even know who is he, we only hear about how great Luongo is) stopped everything in what was essentially a one-sided shellacking. No one would've blamed him if they lost 7-0 but they won 1-0. Luongo owes his team a half-dozen of those kind of games in the playoffs, but as #juan said he doesn't seem capable of making even a good save.

Perhaps it's no longer a shock that Keanan couldn't find anyone better in return for him than Bertuzzi.

One More word on Luongo

For Luongo's own sake I hope he can turn his game around. If he doesn't., never mind 7 million. he will have a hard time signing for a bucket of pucks and a used skate rag. He will have to show some of his previous brilliance before the year is out or nobody will want him. His inconsistancy scares me away already.

The 1-0, was dan boyle scoring on his own goal, but I was happy for him
tonight, because he got san joses first goal, which would make him feel
a little better.

And keenan got bertuzzi, bryan allen and another player.

Anderson is being talked about all the time, everyone
knows who he is, your not paying attention, they've been
talking about him all year, as he came in and won for
colorado all through beginning of year, and colorado kept
it going.

oops I did a double post reply, oh well, i'm sure you'll all figure it out,
the sun will still come up tomorrow.

He took Nonis to the cleaners.

Nonis had his eye on luongo for a long time, when asked
one day (not long before the trade), who do you think is
the best goalie in the NHL, he said, "Roberto Luongo, by
far, so when he got the chance to get him, he didn't even
blink, and he also saw a way to get bertuzzi out of town,
because he was a hard player to trade, no one wanted him
after all the problems, but Bertuzzi was Keenan's player,
as he had brought him to the canucks when he was coaching
here, so he still wanted him, and in all fairness to
Luongo, it was 'he' who wanted to go, not florida wanting
to trade him, they wanted to get something for him before
he just walked at the end of the year, as he would have
been a free agent, and on the open market, and would have
had a pick of lots of teams.

Florida was going to lose him either way, so with the trade,
at least they got something back for him.

well this game tonight is definitely going to either put
the canucks on the edge, or bring them right back on track.

I know they have had video sessions and instruction concerning the penalty kill, which is the key to these
games, and have put us in the hole, but they were playing them 5 on 5 very well.

there will always be penalties, as as long as they don't
take the stupid ones, and keep them limited, and kill
them well, we should be fine, and hope referees perform
well too.

chicago is trying to win games without trying very hard,
and if they continue that play, 'goodbye', because
nashville are working very hard at both ends of the ice.

Detroit and Phoenix is a toss up, but I do give the nod
to detroit because they have better goal scorers.

San Jose managed to win in overtime last night, but colorado
could easily have won it, had good chances too, so san jose
has brought themselves right back into it.

You're right Tall. Tonight is do or die for the Canucks. If the lose tonight, they must win all three remaining games. If they win tonight, the two teams are tied at two apiece and both teams need two more wins. I hate the idea of that last game in LA but nothing we can do about that now.;-)

The last game will be in Vancouver, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by last game.

after tonight, they have one game in each rink until winner
is found.

I don't want to put words in anyones mouth but I took it to mean if the Canucks win every game left it will end in L.A. and he'd rather the celebrations happened on home ice.

Yeah, what I meant, that game 7 would be in vancouver if it
goes that far, and JLM at this point we don't care do we,
where it ends, (could be in lower slobovia), as long as it is in 'our' favour.

That's better, they looked like their old selves in the 3rd period and Luongo was pretty masterful..................... Canucks in 6.

It's about time some of these guys showed up. Heck, even Wellwood looked great. He might have been the best player on the ice.

what a battle, great 3rd period, and after that bad 1st
goal, luongo had a great game, hope he can continue.

brand new series now best out of 3, we have home ice
advantage.

wellwood has been playing very well for some time now,
he is a real puzzle, first half of season, nothing from him
at all, looked like he would just fade away and disappear,
now he is of great value to the team, (he is playing for
a new contract), so I guess he will get it now.

I thought Burrows struggled all through this game, he
needs to improve, maybe now that they have this monkey
off their back, and have tied the series, he will relax
a bit and play better.

In the first period canucks were very tentative and looked
almost paralized with fear that they would take a penalty,
then they gave up two power play goals, which didn't help.
But, thankfully they played their way out of it.

GO CANUCKS GO

well, another D man down, as baumgartner is injured, so

yup, guess who is returning to the lineup, Andrew Albert,

he's the last man standing, so we'll hope he stays out of

the penalty box, and if he does, he's not a bad player,

better than baumgartner.
