Interesting stat.

Canucks are the worst road team, playing against the worst
home team for tonights game, at least that is what they
just said on team 1040, so I am going on their word.

They will win tonight Talloola, after Saturday's tragic loss and the urgency of winning one on the road. Wed. night is the one I think will be doubtful. If they don't win tonight then I think "the handwriting is on the wall".

not over till it's over JLM, from yogi---------
don't know why you would think wed would tougher than
tonight. Wed will tough for whatever team loses tonight.

Only psychologically, Talloola. I think the loss Saturday came as a bit of a shock to them and that in itself often spurs them on to better things in the very next game. You are right- they can all be equally difficult.

this game tonight was a mixture of everything, but keeping
pace with their season road play, they couldn't play 60
minutes, seemed to go to sleep during the middle part of
the game, then luongo 'not paying attention' let in a puck,
that rome was 'pathetic' in his efforts to take control of,
so that was a comedy of errors on that one play alone.

They looked better later on, but then they weren't given the
goal scored by daniel, I didn't agree with the decision, as
in my opinion he didn't kick the puck in at all, but that's
that, no goal.

L.A. was the better team tonight, they deserved the win.

Don't think we deserved this one, so we move on, and see
what happens on Wednesday.

If anyone follows the interviews with Pierre McGuire each
day,
he has picked L.A. to come out of the west, long before tonight, he likes canucks a lot, but states, on the blue
line they are too thin, and can't be their best when D men
aren't 100%, Rome playing with an injury, and mitchell can't play at all, and maybe he is right, we'll see.

He is a very respected hockey analyst, coached in the NHL
and has a photgraphic memory, and can't be stumped when
quizzed on players from years ago, right up to present.
He is down on ice level for many games all season, and
knows his stuff.

I don't necessarily agree with him,( but leaving the canucks
out of the picture for the moment), I would pick L.A. over
nashville, phoenix or colorado, & at this point in time,
detroit too, not sure about san jose, if they do get past
colorado, they will be tough to play.

Luongo still makes me uneasy even when he is stopping pucks, he just doesn't seem comfortable to me, as I have
been watching anderson, quick and others, and they all seem
to be more relaxed and focused than luongo, there is still
something bugging him in goal, and maybe he won't be 100%
till next season, and also, maybe I'm wrong.

GO CANUCKS GO

5 -3 play off hockey BIG Lu gets pulled :roll::roll::roll: Golf is coming to town........

It ain't over until the fat lady sings, but one thing for sure their penalty killing is not as good as L.A.s power play and they've had 3 games to figure that out so if they are going to continue taking stupid penalties they have only themselves to blame. Only idiots trying doing the same thing while expecting a different result.

Dew Doughty is just amazing. I can't believe the kid is that good, that young.

Vancouver looked really good early on with the physical game, they were making LA look slow and disorganized, but they couldn't keep it up for whatever reason. They need to stay with that style of play and stay out of the box if they want to win this series.

Canucks are getting outplayed. However, many teams get outplayed in the playoffs and get a hot goaltender who steals a game. When was the last time Luongo stole a game? Has there been one in 2010? Even a mediocre goalie will steal one every now and then, but he has turned just plain bad, night in and night out.

This is an argument one of us made before the Olympics. I can't remember when Luongo last stole a game. As a matter of fact, I can't remember Luongo making a brilliant save. If a brilliant save was required, chances are that puck went in the net. Luongo is not doing the job he used to and the team is dying. Two more losses and it is good bye to this season. Give Raycroft the last two games. Could he be worse than what we have?

I have the uneasy feeling that you are at least partly correct- certainly enough of a feeling to question the $64 million contract. However, Luongo is only the Canucks 2nd worst problem. He's not all that bad at even strength and that should be their first clue on the appropriate immediate action that has to be taken.

If you are suggesting that the Canuck's defense leaves something to be desired, I would agree. How do we fix it? Do we have anyone in the minors who could help? My first solution might be a four by six sheet of plywood accross the front of the net.;-)

That too, I suppose but what I was getting at are the idiotic penalties. To win it has become obvious that they can't take ANY penalties, when playing against L.A. A sheet of plywood might help, but it might take a concrete slab.........:lol::lol:

Yeah JLM the penalty kill is not working at all, l.a. have
far too many power play 'goals'. specialty teams have to be
sharp, every team gets penalties, and must be good at killing them, not so with canucks. The penalty kill is far
too 'passive', wonder what happened to that great penalty
kill they 'used' to have.

Luongo isn't sharp, he is OK, not sharp. Not sure why
he is using his blocker at times when he could just catch
the puck, last night that caused one of the goals, but the
brunt of the loss shouldn't be layed at his feet, that lets
the rest of the problem 'lay' around without being addressed.

We started the game like gang busters, then slowly the
air went out of the balloon, and I know the l.a. began to
play better, as they didn't have a good start, came on
slowly.

When a team becomes passive and plays like they are afraid
to make a mistake, and don't want to be the one to do it,
then all of their aggression is gone, and spontenaity, and
that is what happened to them far too often.

The twins are being checked very close, and will have a
hard time completing their plays, that is expected, but
others have to step up, and even the twins have to fight
their way through it, and did a little of that last night.

I wish them well the rest of the way, it can still be done,
but they have put themselves in a bad spot now, and 'have'
to win the next one, no room for error.

Quick wasn't bullet proof last night, he was there for the
taking, we just didn't 'take' it.

They won't play raycroft next game, luongo will be back in
the net, that is the way it will always be, he is the guy
who is there to 'do' it, and raycroft is there is 'clean'
up when necessary. I know some would like raycroft to
start next game, but it won't happen, unless luongo is
injured.

You're right Talloola- When you have a $100,000 Rolls Royce sitting in your garage do you use your 1974 Datsun for your main car?

You Guys sound like you want to have Luongo's child-the man has f*cked up too many times of late.

In other team news I noticed Grabner for the first time last night-lotsa speed but little finish around the net-too bad he's so limited in that regard.

He is only limited in one regard, as a 'very young' very fast
hockey player working his way into the NHL, not a seasoned
player who just can't seem to get it done. He played just
fine, and none of the criticism should be sent his way,
there are much more serious matters to address.

power play
penalty kill
goalkeeping
defense

The matter of 'what goalkeeper' will play, is just 'it is what it is', they
will not start raycroft unless luongo is injured, it's not our wish or decision, it is theirs, he is their guy, he is the franchise player, and
they will start him, and go from there.

I sure hope Vancouver has an escape clause with Luongo because he is not the goalie that they signed a few years ago. In the early days Luongo used to let in the odd easy goal but more often that not, he would come back and steal the game with his brilliant play. It is that "brilliant play", that is for the most part missing. Talloola has been very patient with me because I wanted to dump Luongo some time ago and Tall was Luongo's most consistant supporter.

I'll come back to Luongo if he wins the next three games and brings home the Stanley Cup. Hell, I'd be satisfied if he won the next three games and played in the Stanley Cup final.

Just to get one more thing off my chest, Could somebody stop Burrows from diving all over the ice? Burrow's diving is probably causing us to take penalties, penalties we can't seem to handle.
