Luongo is playing far better than he has in the last few games, hes positioning a lot better for the one timers and net crash deflections. He had a few good saves in the first which so far has set the tempo for the game. It makes a huge difference to this team when Luongo makes a few early saves and plays with confidence.

If things stay the way they are in the Sabres game Henrik should also pick up another point over Thornton. Miller is having an off game though so its not set yet.

Two minutes left in the Canucks/Blackhawks game. Still 4-1

Ho ho, Dan is on the board now too. This goes on much longer they are going to have to rename it "Swedish Night in Canada".

It was a case of one team having a goalie and the other having two that aren't. If that is the goaltending tandem Chicago expects to win a cup with, it ain't happening.

They just had a really bad night... both of them. Niemi has the best GAA in the league although not much ice time. Huet is the weak link, hes barely breaking .900 and has had his ass saved many times by the Hawks forwards scoring.

The HNIC announcers almost had me convinced the Canucks were going to lose because of the Hawk's superior breakout and play making but I watched the game anyway....;-)

canucks forwards gave great support to the defence tonight, making
sure to come back and help out.
The fill in defence guys played just fine.

Luongo was great.

Our penalty killing was sharp.

It was a pure team game from start to finish.

Sedins and Burrows didn't dissapoint anyone, just keep on
doing their thing.

Ovetchkin came within one point, not any more.

They outshot us, but scoring chances were not that much.

Good for them, next game will be buffalo in town, I think
it's on Monday.

I'm hearing after game interviews with chicago players, who are saying they
just didn't have enough jump tonight, didn't play 'their' game, well, there
is another team out there, who had something to do with that.

GO CANUCKS GO

Just hearing on team 1040 that, after saturdays game, CBC/ hockey night in canada were 'not' given access to any
canuck players for interviews.

Canucks are obviously sending a message to them that they
are still 'not' pleased by the character assasination that
was done on burrows last week.

We play in toronto next saturday, hmmmm, the center of the
universe, wonder how that will go.

Hey, they play Buffalo tonight. How do you all think that will go? The teams are pretty close but if everyone plays like they did in the last game it should be another win for the Canucks.

Yep, that will be the toughest of their next 3 wins.

Buffalo is a very good team this year, they don't score
a lot of goals, but they haven't allowed a lot either,
one of the best goalies in the NHL, Miller, who will be
between the pipes for team USA.

They have a very young defenceman named Tyler Myers, 6'8", and very talented,
so make a point of noticing him, he is impressive.

If we bring our A game it will be a very good game, and
Buffalo are playing the 7th game of a long road trip, which
tells us they will be a little fatigued, but don't count
on it.

you know, any team in the NHL can beat any other team,
IF, they don't come to 'play', the league is so even,
all teams have good players, and they all can't be at
the top, and until recently points have been very close
from first to last, so we must take it seriously.
We still don't have any of those defencemen coming back
tonight, and we can't expect the three fill ins to play
like they did the other night, on a regular basis, it
doesn't seem to work that way, as over time they will show
the cracks in their game, but, so far so good.

The fill-ins looked pretty good against Chicago. I joined the Chicago game about five minutes in but I've learned that O'Brian took another dumb penalty in the firsr twenty seconds. It's like other teams have learned how to draw O"Brian into a dopey penalty.

yeah, that can happen to him, he is getting better though,
and he is still young, but I like his up side, and I think
he will be a top defenceman as time goes on. He has a lot
of responsibility right now, with the three main guys out,
so that might be putting too much pressure on him, but he'll
be OK, just needs more experience and a little more maturing.

Buffalo doesn't have any big stars that catch everyone's
attention but they have lots of players who have around
16 to 20 goals, so they have lots of depth in scoring,
although they don't score many goals in their games.
They are third in their conference, and 3 pts up on
Canucks.
