Canucks meet L A Kings tonight, a team loaded with potential, very young, the
youngest team in the NHL, and right now they are on a bit of a run, and have won
4 or 5 games in a row.
They have good goalkeeping now, which was their weakness for the past two or
more years.
The canucks should win this game, but there really is no such thing in the NHL, as
every team has to 'come to play', on every game night, doesn't matter who they
are playing, as any team can beat any other team on any given night.
We have a very good schedule from now till the end of the regular season, almost
every game we play is against teams below us in the standings, so the canucks
will have to rise to the occasion in every game.

Tough loss for canucks tonight, just too many penalties during the middle part of
the game, no flow because of that, lines don't get to go out on their regular shifts.
Luongo let in an easy one right at the beginning of the game, when canucks were
all over kings, and that turned the momentum immediately, then a power play goal
so then the kings got lots of confidence and energy.
Canucks had some chances that they couldn't capitalize on, but that's the way it
goes sometimes, the other team wants to win too.
Canucks also were not good in the face off circle, gave up the puck in that circle
far too many times.
Canucks don't shoot enough, sundin doesn't shoot enough, passes too much, points
don't shoot enough, so they will have to work on that.
Next time they call me for my 'input' I will make that suggestion. lol;-)

Terry Murray will have lots of fun coaching the kings over the next few years,
they are very very young, very talented, and they will make a good showing in
the league next year, and for many years to come, and they stll have a chance
to make this years play offs.

as we speak, so they have to win, and win now, but they have done nothing recently

For the Canucks…

If there was one player that wished the Canucks played in the Pacific Division, it may be Taylor Pyatt. Since joining the Canucks in the 2006.07 season, more than one-third (16 of 47) of the 27-year old’s tallies have come against teams in the Pacific Division. This season, half of the 6’4”, 230 lbs. left winger’s eight goals have come against Pacific Division opponents including his tally on Monday night against the Los Angeles Kings. The eight-year NHL veteran will be hoping to continue his goal scoring ways against the Pacific Division when he leads his team into Anaheim to close out their two-game road trip tonight.

The Thunder Bay, Ontario native has had a fairly disappointing season to date as far as points are concerned. With 15 points (8-7-15) on the season, he is 22 points away from equaling the 37-point mark he posted in each of his first two seasons with the Canucks. Despite the struggles, Pyatt is nearly a couple of milestone markers as he currently sits 11 goals shy of 100 career goals, two assists shy of 100 career assists, and 13 points shy of 200 career points. In 16 career games against the Ducks, Pyatt has four points (2-2-4) and six penalty minutes.For the Ducks…

After gaining a new lease on his hockey life in Anaheim, Ryan Whitney is hoping to show to the hockey world that he is capable of returning to his form from his first three NHL seasons when many had him touted as one of the best up-and-coming defencemen in the league. The former fifth overall selection of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2002, who had a career-high 14 goals and 59 points in just his second season back in 2006.07, Whitney was acquired by the Ducks in late February in exchange for Chris Kunitz and prospect Eric Tangradi. The 6’4”, 219 lbs. blue liner was a big part of the Penguins’ run to the Cup last season when he suited up in all 20 playoff games netting six points (1-5-6) and 25 penalty minutes.

The Boston, Massachusetts native had been hampered with a foot injury that forced him to miss the first 33 games of the season before making his season debut with the Penguins. He has appeared in just five games with the Ducks this season since the trade, recording one assist. In two career games against the Canucks, Whitney has zero points and one shot on net.

What a wierd game, reminded me a bit of the l.a. game, as we were all over them
for about 10 minutes or so, then henrik sedin coughed up the puck, passed directly
to sellane, and he skated right in and scored, probably the worst player to give up
the puck to, as he has a deadly shot.
They scored again, the game turned in their favour, then we got 2 quick goals,
then they got another one right at the end of the period.
We scratched back, got a nice goal to tie it up, went into overtime, lost it on a
breakaway with 3 on 3, oh well, at least 1 point.
Didn't agree with the choice of players for the 3 on 3 time.
Luongo looked kind of awkward throughout this game, some good saves though.

Sundin looked awful, I'm starting to lose any faith that he is going to get any
better, he just looks like he can't keep up with the pace.
Sedins looked very ordinary tonight. Burrows and Kesler played great.
The third line is awful, wellwood got a goal, but other than that he played
poorly, no defense at all.
Dimitra played well.
Defense played well, but it is evident that we need a puck carrying defenseman,
(like Jovo), who can charge up the ice every once in a while with the puck, and
have some offence.
Bieksa is getting there, but not quite yet.

Now we have a chance to get revenge against l.a. for the loss the other night. I felt sorry for vancouver, as they were all over l.a. for the first 10 minutes or so of the game, l.a.
had no confidence, couldn't manage to get the edge over us at all, then they scored a
goal totally against the play, we panicked, took a penalty, they scored another goal, and
they never looked back for the rest of the game, their confidence was very high, they
realized they could win the game, they raised their level of play and won.

Despite coming into tonight’s game on a five-game point streak (0-5-5), the 28-year old has gone the last eight games without lighting the red lamp. The 6’1”, 185 lbs. left winger’s last goal came back on February 19th against the Ottawa Senators. The streak is Sedin’s longest goal-less drought of the season. His previous high was seven games from October 13th to October 28th.

Despite his recent inability to find the back of the net, the Orsnkoldsvik, Sweden native still leads all Canuck scorers with 25 goals this season and is making a strong push for his second Cyrus H. McLean Trophy as team’s leading point scorer in the last three seasons as he sits in first place with 64 points – four points ahead of second place Henrik Sedin. Daniel also leads all Canucks with three points (1-2-3) against the Kings this season. In 29 career games versus Los Angeles, Daniel has recorded 21 points (9-12-21) and 10 penalty minutes

Yeah, he had more jump tonight, looked better, but he's still stiff and doesn't look
good going up the ice, but does much better in the opposition zone, and around
the net.
We looked good till the third period, seemed lackadazical for awhile, we were
commenting that we were ripe to be scored on, and well, you know what happened.
Henrik did his thing for two goals, goalie looked bad on his second one, but it
did go in so I'm not complaining.
Luongo let in one easy one again, he seems to have one of those in every game
lately.
Columbus went ahead of us for about 2 hours, then we won our 5th place spot
back again. We are only 4 behind chicago I think, so it is possible to pass them
which would give us home team advantage in playoffs.
Colorado comes into our barn on sunday, so we'll have to be ready for them.

For the Canucks…

Roberto Luongo has never been known as someone to hold a grudge, but if he were you can bet he’s got a personal score to settle with the Colorado Avalanche. The last time the All-Star netminder faced the Avs, he went into the game riding a franchise high three-game shutout streak and was within just under 19 minutes of picking up his fourth goose egg in a row before Marek Svatos ended the franchise-setting shutout streak at 242 minutes and 36 seconds. The Avs went on to win that game 2-1 in a shootout despite a 33-save effort from Luongo. The 29-year old was out of the lineup with a groin injury in the last meeting between the two teams – a 5-4 shootout victory for the Avalanche with Cory Schneider tending the net for the Canucks.

The Montreal, Quebec native has been phenomenal in his last 16 starts posting a record of 13-2-1 while surrendering more than three goals in just two of those outings. The same can’t be said about his recent outings against the Avalanche, however, as he hopes to snap a personal seven-game winless skid (0-5-2) against the Avs. His record versus Colorado since becoming a Canuck is just 5-9-3. Overall in his career, Luongo has appeared in 21 games against the Avalanche posting a record of 5-13-3 with a 3.11 GAA and a .897 save percentage along with one shutout

I hope they win against Colorado tonight. This is the time to get some precious points especially since Calgary is reeling. That game against Toronto last night was insane! Lots of goals, no defense, and poor goaltending. No wonder Ottawa got rid of Gerber...8O

Chicago lost today, so if we win tonight, we will be only 2 pts. behind them.

make the playoffs, are a much improved team this year, thanks to fletcher,
not burke.
Iginla is one of my favourite players in the NHL, but not his team, but I always
enjoy watching him play.
I dislike san jose and anaheim more than I do calgary, not really sure why, but
those feelings are there, so be it.
I dislike rangers, and toronto as well.
Come on JLM, get yourself going, playoffs are just around the corner. I need some fans

Very important, 'who' we play in the first round. Would be nice to get ahead of
chicago, then we will have home ice advantage over them, but we could end
up behind columbus, then we would play calgary, and they will have home ice
advantage.
It also depends on how the sedins play, Gillis will not resign them till after the
season ends, and it is a big stick for him, as they have not played well going
down the stretch in other seasons, so if they play well, they will get a nice
new contract, and if they don't, who knows, they might not even be back
next season.
Sundin too, he must raise his level of play 'now'.
And of course goalkeeping is 'huge'.

Good win for the canucks tonight, and it puts them in a very good position in the
standings, getting past chicago is a definite possibility now, and catching calgary
could happen too, and we have a game left, with each of those teams.

Canucks played awsome in the first period, then it was rather ordinary for much
of the game, a wierd goal from tucker that eluded luongo, and got caught in his
feet.

Burrows was our guy again tonight, I would love to give him a hug, oh well, I think

them a lift, brought them back into the game, he has to watch closer around
his net, he must sharpen up his game in that department, if that goal hadn't
gone in, I don't think the frenzy would have happened, but that's hockey, and
anything can happen.
I don't want them to pass Calgary, I want them to pass Chicago, then we can
play chicago in the first round and have home ice advantage, but if we pass
Calgary we will most likely play Columbus, don't want to do that, I would
rather see Calgary and Columbus go at it, as Columbus have the ability to
knock off anyone the way they are playing, and they have Mason in goal, and
he is awsome, I know we beat them quite easily in the last game we played
them, but that isn't typical for columbus this season, and it was the first time
we had defeated them this year.
