That was, without a doubt, the worst game the Canucks have played in a number of years. Players who don't normally make dumb moves, made dumb moves, The Canucks coughed up the puck so many times it got to be a habit. Colorado is/was the worst team in the league.....Does that title now belong to Vancouver? This is a team that was worrying about home ice advantage? How could that possibly matter? I might have been tempted to pull Luongo............Hell, the backup couldn't have been much worse than Luongo.
I will watch Vancouver's opening game of the playoffs. If they don't play substantially better, I will watch bowling.

ya's would be better served looking at where the hell your defense was, rather than putting the blame all on Luongo's shoulders.

I would rather watch paint dry than bowling.:p

Playing it is fine, but watching it...

I wouldn't put most of the blame on luongo for last nights horror story, the whole
team was the same, so that tells me there was a fatigue factor that set in from
the big road trip, back home for one, off to edmonton for one, then back home
for one, then the taylor pyatt tragedy, and the one minute of silence before the
game, a blend of things that put this team in a position where their brains shut
down for that game.
We'll see how they play tomorrow against calgary, hope they can snap back.
They had today 'off', so hopefully they slept and slept and slept, I wonder, as the
one's with small kids won't get that luxury.
If they play bad tomorrow, then I will begin to be concerned about their state
of mind and body, no player ever steps on the ice with a plan to play poorly,
or be lazy, they all have pride and the desire to win.
In most games we can pick out one or two players who don't play as well as they
should, but the whole team did it at the same time, there has to be a reason
for that.
Tom Larscheid talked about how fatiguing those long road trips are, as he is
there with them the whole way, and doesn't even play, and he says he still feels
the fatigue, physical and mental.
The game at home against anaheim was really just part of the road trip, as
they had to fly off to edmonton the next morning.
The one worrisome part is, that they don't let this game bother them too much,
or begin to cause a loss of confidence, as that is the beginning of a slump.
Confidence is everything.
My daughter is really grumbling today, she will not go to another game, $500.00
down the drain as far as she is concerned. Total cost for 3 people.
She played hockey for years, and said she could have helped them last night,
they needed her, she wouldn't have been the worst one on the ice. She doesn't
watch games, doesn't own a tv, did this trip for her son's birthday, he loves
hockey, she wanted him to hear the roar of gen. motors place, but she said the
place was so quiet, then the one goal near the end.
They had a heckler up behind them (drinking), hollering trashy stuff at the canucks, started to cheer for colorado, and called for laBarbera and many other
things, she said the lady beside her almost hit him with her program, and
threatened to take his beer away, I guess that was a 'form' of entertainment.;-)
It's a wonder the lady didn't end up 'wearing' the beer, but I guess it's too precious
to the owner to give up, and expensive.

Well, calgary beat los angelos tonight, so I guess we 'have' to beat calgary tomorrow
to stay in the race for the north west division title.
We can't end up in a tie, as they have more wins, so they will come out ahead.

2008-2009 Regular Season

For the Canucks…

To say the Canucks’ blue-line corps needs to turn things around after surrendering 14 regulation goals in their last three games would be an understatement, but one D-man who desperately needs to find his game again is Kevin Bieksa – particularly when it comes to the offensive end of the ice. The good news for the 6’0”, 205 lbs. rearguard is that he’s enjoying a career-season, having posted a new career-high in points with 43 (11-32-43) surpassing his previous high of 42 points set back in 2006.07. The bad news is the 27-year old has gone stone cold in recent games as far as offence is concerned. While he does have eight points in his last 15 games, he has not managed to find the back of the net in that same stretch. His 15-game goal-less drought is the second longest of the season, surpassed only by his 19-game goal slump from December 7th to January 7th.

The Canucks have demonstrated they’re a much better team in games when the Grimsby, Ontario native manages to score a goal. This season, Vancouver’s record when Bieksa scores is 8-2-1 which includes a streak of five consecutive wins in games where Bieksa has scored. Bieksa will be hoping to end his long goal slump tonight when he leads his team into battle against the Flames. In 22 career games versus Calgary, Bieksa has netted ten points (2-8-10) and 22 penalty minutes. For the Flames…

Without a doubt, the Calgary Flames made the biggest splash on trade deadline day when they acquired superstar forward Olli Jokinen from the Phoenix Coyotes. While all their wheeling and dealing hasn’t exactly worked out as planned in the win-loss column as the Flames are just 7-9-0 since the trade deadline, it certainly hasn’t been the fault of the 6’3”, 215 lbs. Jokinen who has so far kept his end of the bargain. Since joining the Flames roster, the 30-year old centre has netted 13 points (8-5-13) in 16 games played which includes a two-goal outing in his Calgary debut back on March 5th in Philadelphia and a season-high five-point (3-2-5) night on March 14th in Toronto. However, he comes into tonight without a point in his last four straight games – his longest drought as a Flame.

The Kuopio, Finland native will be facing the Canucks for the first time since becoming a member of the Flames. He has played against the Canucks three times this season as a member of the Coyotes, recording one assist and a minus-one rating. In 13 career games versus Vancouver, Jokinen has no goals and four assists along with 13 penalty minutes.

Key game tonight, if we win or get a point, we are still alive to compete for
the north west division title. no points, and calgary clinch the title, but
that isn't the end of the world, just bragging rights.
I'm looking forward to canucks playing at the top of their game tonight, so
hope they go for it.

Interesting to see that both you and Jenn have different teams to root for. I am looking forward to reading both of your comments after the game tonight. No matter who wins, it should be a great game.

You've miss read shadow. We are BOTH Flames fans. I became a flames fan as soon as we moved here in 01, but it took her a couple of seasons to switch over from the Canucks to the Flames. My reasoning....we live in Calgary, we should then support the local teams.

This year is looking REAL good for Calgary's sports teams. We won the Grey Cup...we have a GREAT chance at the Memorial Cup....Alberta took the Briar.... and I'm being (probably very overly) optimistic about the Stanley Cup. ;)

Ah! Well, it isn't 100% my fault! I was mislead by your non-bashing of Vancouver a few posts ago. Normally I see Calgary fans(such as the ones on tsn.ca) bashing the heck out of Vancouver. It is nice to see that some don't take that route.

The main team I don't want to win the Cup is Detroit. If Calgary won it, I certainly wouldn't hate it.

My son may very well be one of those tsn bashers. He refers to the sundin's as the sundin sisters. When we talked about the van/colo game and I mentioned how some were coming down on Luongo, he just asled where the sundin sisters were that night.....lol

Yeah, there are some factions there that is for sure. They call Edmonton the 'Coilers' for some reason. Coilers? What the heck does that mean?
