At the cost of $64 billion????????????

I wasn't knocking Luongo I was praising Schneider. I am
convinced that Schneider will be a better goaltender than Luongo.
I also understand the ramifications of Luongo's lengthy contract.
Wanting to lock Luongo into a long term contract is great on one hand
but it also locks the team into the long term. I'm sure there are people
who will be after Schneider in the off season and come next fall we
won't have him anymore. I just hope they get good players/or money
for him.
I guess either way, Luongo is making something over 5 million per season.aye?????, whatever happened to the 64 thousand dollar question. !!!!lol
no I didn't think you were knocking luongo, but canucks really handcuffed themselves
getting locked into such a long term contract, don't know why the teams did that, and
now, it seems they all have regretted it, and I am not seeing this happening so much
any more.
I don't care how good a player is, as a manager I would not let the franchise get that
trapped into contracts, even if a great player 'left' because of it, I would let them leave,
and you know it isn't the player, it is the player agent, who push the 'latest trend', and
the managements follow, the management is so afraid of their player going somewhere else and
winning, thus giving them a bad name, they cave in to the 'agents' persistent story, of how 'this'
is the way it is now. 'b.s. I say'. and the player's agent also convinces the player, and I wonder
why, oh now it couldn't be, that the agent will make so much more money from it, now they wouldn't do
that would they?!!!!!! you bet they will, so the player and the management get
hoodwinked into a situation that is not really good for either of them, as I think
it is better for the player to have to negotiate at least every 4 years, which
means his contract would have been a 5 year contract, and negotiations would begin
in the 4 playing year, that is if the player and the team are interested in he
staying for a new term.

It would be folly to think that Schneider would wait for Luongo's contract to
run out. Many more games like the one against the Ducks and Schneider
could be signing for more than 64 million.
yousa, I hope your kidding, i'm sure your kidding, I know your kidding, where is your smiley,
please tell me you don't mean it, he would sign you on as his agent in a second if you promise
him 64 mil. lol

I THINK he's kidding.
If you read my post, I ain't offering anything.
Seriously though, if Schneider puts up some great stats in the remainder of this season, there will be a battle
royal for his services. The Canucks will have many offers.
yeah, I think so too, BUT I wasn't viewing the 64 mil as a one year offer, I was viewing it
as a multi year figure, still has to be kidding.
Yes they will, maybe not next season though, there are so many goalies out there right now, who seem
to be doing very well, so if Canucks want a certain level of trade for him, they might have to hold
off for a while, and that is OK, as long as schneider can handle that, maybe they can give him a bit
of a raise if he stays next year, to show appreciation for his great work.
The playoffs could raise his stakes, depends if he plays much, but if luongo stays solid, and plays
well, schneider might not see any games at all in playoffs.
Gillis thought that Luongo was the team savior so he offered 64 million over 12 years and he also made Luongo captain. Apparently Gillis didn't think there were a lot of goaltenders out there. In all the years I coached I never saw a successful captain who was a goalie. To make an offer for anything longer than 3 years is dumb. (unless there's a lot of fine print)

What is the length of the average N.H.L. career? I'm guessing about 7 years.

Once again I was struck by how teams elevate their game to play the Top Team in the league-whether they admit it or not.
It's all to the good though and the thousands of Canadians in attendance certainly enjoyed themselves.
Just heard the Leafs have already lost their first 4 games next season!!!
