HB Gary Federal, Anonymous, Wikileaks, and the US Gov't

Has anyone been following this news?

HB Gary Federal is a security firm, that has apparently been working with the FBI to uncover the names of Anonymous members, who had been targeting companies who were cutting off access to Wikileaks funding and access. Well, Anonymous scooped them, getting their names first, then downloading tens of thousands of their emails, and uploading the content that HB Gary had collected on Anonymous members. Twitter accounts were hacked, the companies website was hacked, and back-up data deleted. Anonymous then posted the emails on The Pirate Bay.

It turns out that the US Government has been interested in the sock-puppet factory that HB Gary had set up (amongst other projects) as well as the US Chamber of Commerce who was in partnership with HB Gary to attack progressive foes, even to investigate their families as well in their smear attempts! Bank of America was contracting them as well, as wikileaks apparently has some information on the bank detailing supposed corruption, and fraud.

These days, with Facebook and Twitter and social media galore, it can be increasingly hard to tell who your "friends" are.

But after this, Internet users would be well advised to ask another question entirely: Are my "friends" even real people?

In the continuing saga of data security firm HBGary, a new caveat has come to light: not only did they plot to help destroy secrets outlet WikiLeaks and discredit progressive bloggers, they also crafted detailed proposals for software that manages online "personas," allowing a single human to assume the identities of as many fake people as they'd like.

I thought Americans liked the patriot act? You know whoever doesn't isn't a patriot.

A patriot is someone who does everything possible to make his country a place to prosper and live in peace by education, health, moral guidance, and strong family values.

Is that in the Act?
