Has the Canadian Anthem lost all meaning? We're now threatening principals with death

You bet he did. Went straight to the floor and then snuck over to the blinds and shut them. :D
A friend in the neighborhood. Keeps an eye on him out the kitchen window with her binoculars sometimes.

Anyone who objects to singing the national anthem does not belong in Canada. It has nothing to do with religion or rights. Next thing you know some nutbar will complain about our flag. If you object vote with your feet and leave , those of us that were born here don't care if you stay or not..
Other than that quit changing the words, us old people have trouble keeping up.

I agree for the most part. If they'd leave the words alone, we'd be better off.
The part I disagree with is that this nutbar objects to our flag. The Hypogrits changed it and did you ever notice what color the flag is? The Gliberal color. No greens, blues, yellows, oranges, etc. Red and white. So the flag only represents a part of Canadians, IMO, and a minority at that.

Oh yes we forgot the green people and the blue people and the orange people......

Canada is one country. The flag has one colour. Red on a white background. Nothing wrong with it. I love our flag and so do most Canadians.

I haven't seen a whole lot of red people around either. The provinces use a multitude of colors in their flags, too. Does that means they have yellow, orange, blue and green people?
You must be a liberal fan, I guess huh, #Juan?
Like it would have hurt to add a little blue to represent all the water Canada has in and around it, or yellow & orange for grain, or green for forest.

If I moved to Russia, I would expect to get my ass kicked for disrespecting their national anthem. I am down with immigration, but they should respect the country that they chose to come to. Maybe even be proud or at least happy to be Canadian? Seeing as they obviously had an issue of sorts with their home country.

AnnaG you are certainly allowed your opinion like everyone else. Remember, we didn't vote on the flag but it is by now a well known symbol of Canada. I'm proud of it. You, obviously aren't....

Would you believe I voted for Mulroney first time around. I'm not 100% stuck on any party but you are likely stuck on the Conservatives...;-)

Nope. I am proud of Canada for the most part. I find it tough to be proud of a bit of fabric. Therefore, I am mostly proud of what the flag represents.

Sorry, but I didn't vote for Harpy's bunch. I couldn't stand Bullroney's bunch, either, and I didn't vote for the creep. I voted once for Turdeau's bunch but I doubt I will ever vote party ever again. They waste too much time and money on being partisan.
So your "likely" doesn't mean much.

Actually it was more like ChRETIeN's bunch I voted once for as after ChRETIeN, there wasn't much left of the Turdeau libs.

I'm going to back up a bit here. Pearson brought that flag in in 1963, so it is approaching 50 years old. I was in the RCAF in the fifties and at that time my aircraft had the Canadian Roundel on it's wings and tail.

This was my aircraft.

As you can see, the change to our current flag was a fairly easy transition for me.

Cheers...

I agree, and I think it should be manditory for children to sing it each day in school. The country as a whole is taken for granted for all the really wonderful people and places it's made up of. Anyone can come here and make a very good and comfortable life if they choose to. So can anyone born here. What's more, they're welcome to go ahead and do just that.

If that isn't good enough for anyone then they can piss off, we don't need them.

Had to distinguish it from the Brits "roundel" somehow I suppose.

Pearson, huh? I like what I've read about the guy. Les says LBP was a liberal back before the party turned weird. He says the cons got weird, too. I agree with him. That's mostly why Les is anti-partisan, I think. I am Indie because I believe in individual ability before party ability (lots of duds can be included in groups and that makes it tougher to spot them).

Have to agree there Alister. We need more of this sort of flag waving in this country.

Anyway, I kind of like the tune of the anthem. I just wish they'd quit messing with the words. And my main language is English, so I have no idea what the French in the anthem means or if it really just the French version of what the English means. For all I know, the French bit might be a recipe for poutine. lol
