Oh yes.....Those American oil companies, out of the goodness of their hearts, took it apon themselves to look after the poor people of Alberta because those eastern institutions wouldn't. Is that how it happened? The way I remember it was that
eastern Canada was buying Arab oil far cheaper than anything they could buy in Alberta. American oil companies made fortunes
in Alberta......no different than oil companies everywhere. Those same oil companies were partly responsible for the cheap Arab oil
that was part of the problem. I would be first to admit that the NEP was a disaster but the idea of Canada being self sufficient
in oil from coast to coast in Canada was attractive but alas, it wasn't to be.

So are you saying that the Americans were suppose to invest for nothing? Since when does any business take risks without have some hope of a return on their investment? Sure they made money, but we wouldn't have what we have either if it wasn't for them. The assumption that profit is evil is ridiculous and indicative of those who state that free enterprise is evil as well.

If Eastern Canada "suffered" due to those investments, why didn't they participate?? Did anyone think that gez, the Americans are doing really well out West, maybe we should look into what they're doing and get a "piece of the action" so that we (i.e. Eastern Canadians) can benefit too? Did they not have a vision of what could be? Tough if they didn't!! Don't play me the "poor us" card - it ain't workin'.

Sometimes this country really frustrates me! When one area is doing well, in the end we all benefit. Somehow this little factoid seems to be missing in the discussion. "Success" has become a bad word, ESPECIALLY if it doesn't apply to ... wherever area you happen live in that isn't doing as well. How utterly selfish and self-absorbed we've become. It's disgusting!

"I see you are two miles from where I lived for 14 years 2 blocks from Temple's Food Store!"

Small world isn't it. The Temple Store is where I buy my smokes all the time. They're doing some road work there now and I'm not sure if the store is staying or not.

If he was doing that, he would repeatedly refer to his father at every opportunity. The guy has done lots of things to be critical of. I don't need to mention Pierre in order to show that Justin is not a competent, capable leader. That's just being overly emotional.

Nope. No emotion on my part. What you're seeing is bitterness.

Dixie...Lets call this discussion over. You are arguing something else entirely.
I wish you well.
